Not true. But doesn't matter. Facebook will be around for a LONG time, and will continue getting more and more popular.

Besides, the Internet is going to a place that's less anonymous anyway.

Yes, it is true. I've seen it happen to my own profile. In fact, Mark Zuckerberg argues that individuals should be more open with personal information.

"Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg told a live audience yesterday that if he were to create Facebook again today, user information would by default be public, not private as it was for years until the company changed dramatically in December."

Another quote from a video which I link below:

"Doing a privacy change for, 350,000,000 users is not the type of thing that a lot of companies would do, but we view that as a really important thing..."

It's not about anonymity, it's about being in complete control over one's own personal information, without having to worry about others' making decisions on one's behalf regarding that personal information.

I guess the point is that Facebook easily exploits people who are unaware of the consequences. So I agree now that Facebook can be bad. But as you said.. these dangers are all over the internet.

It's too bad that theses sites that start off innocent have to turn into this money making machine that exploits peoples privacy.

People who cry about the privacy issues with Facebook are morons. Its YOUR decision to join it and its YOU who types in all your own personal information. If you don't want people to have your phone number or home address maybe you shouldn't put it out on the internet for people to see?

Yeah me neither.

The one that really bothered me was when they changed everyone's default privacy settings to show a little bit more to everyone. I'd always just shown everything to friends, but all of a sudden one day I realized all my photo albums that I'd created were able to be viewed by everyone

Thats how i got all my Mod Mik black male photos!

Never responded to this, but you have my life in your hands. In fact, I don't even remember being a black male so I must have been gone :D

This, pretty much. That's exactly why I don't have my actual name tied to my profile, and my account doesn't feature any photos. However many people DO provide personal information and turn their back to Facebook's privacy policies as if they don't exist...
