Bryant/Gasol/Anthony?

You know how much more hate the Lakers will receive if that ever happens? Talk about a real superteam... if the Heat are hated this much now for forming their superteam, just wait if this happens, but it won't.

Kobe and Melo are good friends from the olympics, I think it's time 24 called Melo and ask him to come to the lakeshow

What expiring contracts do we have this time? Kwame had the biggest in the league at the time if I recall correctly. People forget that.

That wasn't really my point. It's easy to say in hindsight that, at the time, we had a huge expiring, and therefore a big trade was possible. But seriously, who thought we could get a player like Pau Gasol with the expiring contract of a useless player like Kwame? People would say, surely, that Memphis could get a MUCH better offer and the Lakers had little Memphis would be interested in. Not saying a big trade is imminent right now, but my point is that big Laker trades seem to happen when you least expect them to. Not when there's a lot of build up with potential scenarios flying around (think Bynum the last few years).

No kidding. Just when you think the Lakers won't counter a Garnett to Celtics, they go out and trade for Pau Gasol. Just when you think the Lakers won't counter a triangle of Wade-James-Bosh, they go out and ___________.

I didn't think we'd get Pau, of course not, but I did know that we had a huge trading chip and hoped we would use that to our advantage.

We don't have that this year and can't make something out of nothing. Unless we convinced Luke to retire after he gets traded...

My thoughts exactly on a possible Melo trade to the Lakers. It's odd that Melo dropped our name along with the Nets Knicks and Mavs, which were all obvious already. Maybe he did it for his own purposes but I don't know, I can't find any melo to lakers rumors since the summer so maybe something is cooking. Meantime I'll count the hours to our rematch in Denver! Melo missed the team's practice for personal reasons so who knows what that means...

2015: Russell / Nance

Yeah I have the same feeling. What Denver is asking for is too much. They pushed the Nets out of trade talks. It would be stupid for any front office to gut their team in order to land Melo.
