he admits in it that melo only wants to be one place. you think they give up ellis without him agreeing to an extension. sorry, they're not an option and truthfully he just killed denver's leverage even more.

-Q: Can you get involved in the Carmelo Anthony deal?

-LACOB: We’ve had discussions with Denver. And I think it’s possible. But unfortunately he clearly wants to be one place geographically. At least, it appears. And I mean one very specific place.

So that’s what makes it hard. You can want something and you can offer a lot to get it. But that doesn’t mean you’re going to get it. These guys have the ability to control where they want to go to some extent.

-Q: You think you could put together a deal that would satisfy Denver, though?

-LACOB: I don’t know for a fact if that’s true. They’re not clear. But we certainly… let’s put it this way, we think we have better assets to go after someone like him, that caliber, than most of the teams out there that are being talked about.

-Q: Including the team he wants to go to…

-LACOB: I think so.

-Q: That’s a major deal to be discussing. That’s four or five of your best guys. That’s a lot. Could you do this for another player or is he the only one?

-LACOB: I think there are a few players out there of the caliber that would be transformative for the franchise. And if we have a chance to make a move to transform the franchise to another level of success, we’ll do it.

Wow guys this was SO DIRECT from an NBA Owner. This could mean Melo's team communicates with these teams and tells them Melo is intent on being a Knick. Because how would he say it like that SO DIRECTLY? This has to give the Knicks major leverage because this is an Owner saying this .

yeah it's amazing he put that out there like that. denver must be pissed.

This further confirms that Carmelo Anthony has made it blatantly clear that he will only play in NY and it is deterring anyone from even inquiring about him. It's like Carmelo saying "No Lakers, Celtics, Heat I don't care if you aqcuire me for only a second round pick I want to play for the Knicks. Yeah I know we will win the next 2-3 championships but I just want to play for the Knicks and with Amar'e." This is great news for the New York Knicks.

What's the alternative, a panic move? We're fans and put more stock into regular season games. Donnie's a wise old GM. I trust him to set the course for our long term future.

In light of this new evidence:

Curry
Buike
Randolph
Douglas
Walker
3 million dollars in cash
Any picks we can muster

for

Carmelo
Birdman

Take it or leave it, snitches.

Birdman/Mozgov
Amar'e/Turiaf
Melo/Gallo/Williams
Fields/Chandler/Mason Jr.
Felton/Rautins

It's all about beating the rental price and that does not beat the rental price.

If Carmelo wants only NY, you test him.

A reasonable and realistic price would be curry, azabukie, fields or Chandler, the pick from Indy via Randolph trade, our 2014 pick, 3$ cash, 2nd rounders galore and Mozgov for melo and either billups or nene

I would think the inclusion of Nene would require a lot more from the Knicks than the inclusion of Billups.

I'd trade Chandler for Melo before I trade Fields. With Amare, Melo, Gallo, and Felts, a glue guy is needed and that's the one and only Landry Fields.

More likely they would insist on the inclusion of Al harrington. The gm would be able to at least hang his hat on clearing some salary off their books for a rebuild.

Chris Sheridan reported that the Nugs like Fields and Walker. ( http://espn.go.com/espnradio/player?rd=1#/podcenter/?id=6042760&callsign=ESPNRADIO&autoplay=1
) Fields is no surprise, but this is the first I heard of them liking Walker. I'm guessing both of those guys might have to be included.

Yeah agreed, not only for a glue guy but bc Fields has proven himself at the 2...I'd rather move either Gallo or Wilson, and everyone knows I prefer Gallo here (especially in a line-up with Melo so that he can stretch the floor). I really hope a deal like this goes down though...soon.

they're going to leave it. if we get him in the summer we'll lose more then that, so it's not a wise choice.

Im really tired of reading speculation posts. We have already have 1000 pages of the crap, we just need a thread where definitive evidence is given in a article where we know what exactly is happening with these trade talks.

i'd say that the owner of another team saying in public that melo only wants to play in one place is pretty definitive.
