Since Brewer was inserted into the starting lineup last week, his shooting percentages and scoring average is steadily improving. Over the last 5 games, he has increased his offense averaging 13.2 ppg. Here is a look at the type of shots he’s taking during this stretch:
•Shots from 0 to 10 feet = 15/25 or 60% (excellent)
•Shots from 11 to 22 feet = 4/10 or 40% (average)
•Three-point shots = 2/11 or 18% (yeah bad)
•Free Throws = 22/29 or 76% (decent)
The good sign for the Wolves is that more than half of all the shots that Brewer has taken are inside the key where he’s hitting them at 60%. They include a combination of lay-ups, dunks and running jumpers. He’s starting to cut down those crazy spin move bankers or out-of-control shots that make you cringe, and he’s concentrating more on finishing the play. He’s also drawing fouls and getting to the free throw line, at a rate of 5.8 per game. He’s also getting “And One” plays on a regular basis. I like the effort hes bringing latley and ther fact that hes taking better shots.
As a starter this season, in 9 games, he averaging 43% FG, 39% 3PT, 77% FT, 2.6 stls and 12.7 ppg.
Also, as of today, hes 6th in the NBA in steals, and plays at least 10 mins fewer than the guys ranked above him.
At the moment, we know he’s good enough for at least 2 lay-ups, 1 dunk, 1 jumper, 5 FTs and maybe 1 three per game = 15 pts. If we can keep him for a fair contract, I say hes worth every dollar.

Another Brewer thread?
I hope he is here, but it could depend on what moves we make at the deadline.

Assuming he isn't involved in a trade, my guess is that he stays in Minny. He likes it here and his contract should be reasonable.

Well, he didn't get his option taken after his "breakthrough" season last year, and he's noticeably worse this year, so I'd expect it would be only for a very cheap contract. Unfortunately.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Cheap, or bye-bye. I love him in spot minutes. I greatly value defense though.

I can't imagine him getting a large contract offer anywhere in the NBA with his lack of outside shooting and the impending CBA change. I suspect he will be here next year on a reasonable contract unless he is used as filler in a trade.

If you can keep Brewer on a deal that's in the zone of 3M a year, I would do it. Unfortunately, I see there being a really good chance that we deal a wing player before the deadline and Brewer might make some sense. I love his defense and energy and if we can get him to basically only shoot layups and dunks, his offensive value actually improves as well.
The problem with starting Brewer is that we now have only one starter who can create offense in Beasley. If you start Brewer, we need a PG that can score. If you start Wes Johnson, he can at least hang out at the line and hit open shots and a pass-first PG can be used.
Either way, I think Brewer will be back. He's enjoyed it here, there's little pressure, and his trade value is low enough that it may not make sense to move him.

Keep Brewer on a cheap deal is what I would hope for.

He didn't get extended after his breakthrough season last year. His last option was picked up the year before.
I think this is going to be up for debate between Kahn and Rambis. Kahn has said a few things that are maybe a bit of a shot at Brew. Such as during the FSN chat, someone asked if Kahn thought Brewer was underappreciated and Kahn simply responded that he was adequately appreciated. Rambis has been going out of his way to praise Brewer, his effort and his defense lately. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I think this topic should be called, "Will Ice32 be able to make weekly Brewer threads beyond this season?"
