We had 56 shots tonite and 2 goals. Blake had 10 shots and no goals.
I've been saying this all year, the leafs need better shot selection. Clearly evident by tonite, shooting more doesnt always lead to more goals.
Also, we seriously need to start burying the puck. Antero made about 40 chest saves....

yeah maybe we have been outgoaltended but our offense is crap not because we dont shoot the puck its becasue we are forcing our shots.
We shoot for the sake of shooting as opposed to shooting to score.
Besides Raycroft, theres a reason we dont win any close games, we dont have any gamebreakers/snipers true goal scorers besides the Captain.

Blake's shot selection is brutal, and me and a bunch of friends/family have been talking about it all season. The guy is a puck-hog and would rather take a 60-foot no-hope shot rather than pass.
I don't think the rest of the team is that bad in terms of shot selection - quite simply, they aren't talented enough. I don't think shooting less and being more selective will help because without the talent, they're not going to score more no matter what. I'm tempted to say they're really missing McCabe in this department, but his stats were abysmal for the season up to the point he got hurt.
If you look at the stats, it's defence and goaltending that are the real problem. The Leafs are tied for 11th in the NHL in goals per game (2.83), but are 26th in goals against (3.17). That amounts to about a one goal differential for every three games, which is huge for a team that has been in so many close games this year.
