Danny Granger
I remember during the Lebron saga we were approached by Indiana for our 3rd pick and Devin Harris. Any way we can bring back that deal and how do Nets fans feel about Granger?
I feel like he's about to enter his prime and is a good addition to a team needing a player who can create his own shot. He's been under the radar and can be had for cheap.

Re: Danny Granger
I'm fine getting Granger, but you won't get a deal as good as Harris/Favors. By the way, Pacers offered us that deal and we declined just to refresh everyone's memory.
The problem is we can't use murphy in the deal, which makes it difficult. If you wanted Harris/Ross/Houston 1st for Granger/2nd, then deal but I don't think the pacers would be interested in that so much.
I haven't been paying attention to Indy this year. How are they liking Collison?

Re: Danny Granger
I would love Granger, but I'm not dealing Favors or Brook, or our 2011 1st(unless it was say top 5 protected at minimum) for him.
I think Indy is going to hold onto him and attempt to make the playoffs this season and assess the situation from there, so unless you bowled them over with an overpay he probably remains a Pacer for at least this season and therein lies the problem.
The offseason or draft night maybe a different story, but still the most likely time for Granger to be dealt IMO would be sometime in August if Indiana strikes out in free agency and comes to grips with the fact they are in limbo. Then again, that maybe too late, so draft night might be the time, especially if a lockout still looks likely at that point.

Re: Danny Granger
Granger has to be a fall back option if only because of his contract. Unless we are unloading Outlaw and Petro somehow his deal will make it tough to be active in FA for Paul/DWill.
Although if we can get him without giving up Favors I'd be open to considering something.
For the sake of discussion here's a modified version of the wallace trade I proposed in another thread. I'd do this but I doubt IND would.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=4thd467
NJ Trades - Harris, Troy, Houston 1st, $3 Mil
NJ Receives - Granger, Andre Miller
POR Trades - Andre Miller, Pryz, Babbitt, Rudy F, 1st round pick
POR Receives - Troy, Devin, $3 Mil
IND Trades - Granger
IND Receives - Rudy F, Pryz (exp), Babbitt, Houston 1st, Portland 1st
To make this trade better for the other 2 teams we could always put in the GSW pick or our own pick this year but I don't know if I would do that. Since we would effectively be taking ourselves completely out of the Melo trade I'd consider putting in the GSW pick. Portland may feel like giving out their 1st is too much so in that scenario we would be giving IND 2 first round picks along with the POR expirings. I don't think we can trade Troy to IND directly this year due to CBA rules.

Have never been a huge fan of Granger too injury prone and too reliant on the 3PT shot.

Re: Danny Granger
Granger hasn't really been injury prone so-to-speak. He's had two legit issues, rehabbed and now they are gone.
Now Devin Harris is injury-prone. Excluding this season he has missed 83 games in six seasons. Excluding this season Granger has missed 41 games in five seasons.

Whatever helps you sleep at night. All I was getting at is that Granger does NOT have a clean bill of health and that's an undeniable truth...

BTW, can you refresh my memory, what were Granger's two legit issues?

Rather have George than Granger. Way cheaper and not that far from becoming a better player than Danny.

Wait, we are talking about Paul George here right?
The same Paul George averaging 6ppg who's career high is 16?
The same guy that is racking up CDDNP's?
Listen, George was my guy before the draft and still is, I stand by him.
I would LOVE to trade for him and I can understand and accept if anyone would rather make a run at him opposed to Granger, especially cause he should come way cheaper, but please don't insult my man Danny Granger by saying George is "not that far from becoming a better player than Danny", and then +1'ing that ****.
George is years away from possibly even matching Granger, although they certainly have similarities in style and he has all the potential in the world.

Re: Danny Granger
You guys need to stop trying to get other teams players. No Lebron. No Melo. Your not getting Granger either. Why would the Pacers trade their best young player they are building around? And why do you guys think Granger can be had cheap? Because you want him? And for Harris your trash? Come on guys be serious. Keep your players and build with the draft picks you have. No other help on the way.

Says a knicks fan who just happens to have a Carmelo Anthony thread stickied on his board... guess that's what knicks fans have to talk about since we have more first rounders this year than they do in the next 3 years. GTFO.

I'll set the over under at 250 posts before you're waived.

I don't think it's really far fetched for him to have a greater career than Granger. He's only been averaging 14.3 MPG in the games he has played, but has played great defensively and can make shots if a play is called for him. I'm not very sure why he hasn't been getting many minutes though. Anyway, he's also 20 compared to Granger being 27. If we traded Devin Harris and the LA Pick for him and still get to draft Irving, we would have a high potential starting 5.
Irving
Morrow
George
Favors
Lopez
I like that better than having to give up more to get Granger, even though he is the much better player at this point.

Re: Danny Granger
^^Again, I completely understand all that and can even get behind it, but I was speaking specifically and strictly in relation to the direct quote, "not that far from becoming a better player than Danny".
He is way far from becoming a better player than Danny. Even if he reaches his potential, he's way too raw to even match Granger's skill set and level of play for at least around another two seasons, that is not, "not that far".
It would be like saying Derrick Favors is "Not that far from becoming the better player than LaMarcus Aldridge".

Re: Danny Granger
Hey Jeff1624 you can keep all your picks. We will have the Amare, Melo, Felton show soon or starting next year. Who cares if you have more picks? We will have 2 great players and a decent guard to get them the ball. Good luck with your future in Brooklyn. Favors won't even be as good as Lee was for us. Take that Nets fans.
