What would you be willing to part with to land Kirilenko? Should we wait til the summer to possibly sign him or could we get him at minimal cost? maybe outlaw and a couple of 2nds? dream scenario, i know haha

If you can get him for Outlaw and a couple of 2nds, you do it. Other than that, I don't understand why anyone would want him. He's a player that should be on a contender, not a team that is fighting just to win 20 games.

Just read the story and had similar thoughts--I didn't picture you willing to send off very many assets in return for his big expiring contract. I know some are hoping that he resigns back in Utah at a discount after his deal is up--but maybe there is something there.

I also wondered if it is a bit of a negotiation tactic with Denver to show them Carmelo isn't the only option out there and they will buy at any cost--especially if it is a rental.

Unless Utah wants Outlaw/Petro/2nd Rounder, I'm not giving up any more than that. I used to love AK47 but his best years are behind him too. If we landed Melo and some other stronger players, I'd use some of the MLE on him since he can guard multiple positions. He'd be solid as a spot starter if injuries happen, but I'd be a little upset if he was our every day starter.

Denver would never get a 1st out of us or Murphy's expiring so the negotiation would probably go nowhere unless they liked the idea of locking up long term salary so they'd get pretty high in the lux tax if they tried to resign DWill down the road.

Unless a 3rd team comes in, Utah and NJ are just not that great of trade partners.

If boggles my mind the Nets have not used this tactic at all. We have no leverage in negotiations where we should have the majority of the leverage in terms of the actual framework of the Melo trade. Everyone in Nets management needs to take a summer course this year in the art of negotations because they all are failing right now.

^Maybe the Nets can have "Local Community College Night" sometime in February, in return for Community College teachers to teach upper management the basics of management negotiation skills.

I just want 24 hours with Denver management. I'm finishing up my MBA so naturally I think I can do this better than Billy King can lol.

I'm also prepared to walk into Melo's house regardless of whether he wants to talk or not, show him an extension, **** on it, and say that's what he'll get in the new CBA if he doesn't sign it now lol.

When Melo says no and has security escort me out, I'll still hold me head high since I know I did more in 24 hours than Billy King has done since August.

Nah you guys need Mozgov. He's a superstar in the making or so Knicks fans claimed when Donnie "nabbed" him from Prokhorov
