I saw a (surprising) stat that no team has come back from 11 down in a championship game. (I don't know if that was just AFC or NFL)

Pittsburgh is reminding me of all the times GB has given up a lead this season.

Good news for the Super Bowl?

MM would NEVER have called a pass on that third down play.

That's a play I don't think Aaron makes late in a game w/ a lead and chance to finish, unfortunately. It seemed like Roethlisberger was dead to rights, but at the last second he finds a receiver. That's what makes Roethlisberger Roethlisberger. We probably need to get a 2-score lead before final couple minutes as a result to beat the Steelers. He's not going to beat himself, and he will beat you.

I'd have run it

Jets out of timeouts, a run takes it down to about 1:15 after the punt and the Jets likely start inside the 20. Extremely hard to go 80 plus yards in that situation. If that pass was incomplete instead, Jets get it with almost a full 2 minutes and a more realistic chance to go the 80 plus yards.

Yea it worked out for a first down, but if it had been incomplete and the extra 40 seconds allowed the Jets to drive for a game winning score, many Steeler fans would have ripped Tomlin to shreds.

Both passing plays on that drive were good for two reasons. On the first one, Roethlisberger rolls out and has the option to run it, which can run more clock. Secondly, on the 40 yd line with 3rd down, he doesn't have to throw the ball. He could fall down and take a sack (rather than try to throw a ball in if everyone is covered), and they still could wind clock down and try to punt it and pin them deep. Complete/Incomplete are not the only options for a pass play.

A little stun that Jets vs. Pitt had more viewers than Packers vs. Bears.

Return to Green Bay Packers
