[Help] Planning my Green Bay Trip

Post#1 » by HKPackerFan » Mon Jan 24, 2011 6:29 pm

Any Green Bay ppl here?? I need some advices. Please kindly help me.

I am planning a trip to Green Bay from 5th to 8th Feb. I will fly all the way from Hong Kong to the title town to witness this Super Bowl event.

1) Will Lambeau Field open for viewing the game? Will the ticket be hard to buy?
2) Any fair motel you can recommend?
3) Any good Packer bar you can recommend?
4) Is it easy to find a taxi in Green Bay?

Thank you for your help in advance. See you there in Green Bay.

Cheese!!!!

As someone who is not from Green Bay (at least not since before grade school) and visited I was surprised that Lambeau is basically in a neighborhood. There are houses with sweet lawn ornaments across the street.

Delaney, can I point him to another forum that may have more people from GB? Or is that against the rules?

Don't promote a competing forum here.

There are no plans at this time to broadcast the SB at Lambeau and quite frankly, you don't want that. The video boards at Lambeau are horrible (they are being replaced next season) and it will be very cold. But there will be numerous bars in Green Bay having Packer parties. Stadium View is close to Lambeau, you can kind of soak up the whole Lambeau atmosphere there. There are a couple of motels right near Lambeau but if you are coming all that way, stay somewhere nice. Try the Tundra Lodge (nice indoor water park) or the Radison (it's connected to the casino). Tundra runs $179-$229 per night. Radisson is cheaper, in the $125 range. Not cheap but if you are coming all that way why stay in a dump. Not a ton of Taxis but they do have them. It's not like NY where you can just hail a cab, you'll have to call for one.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

HK Packerfan - you living in Hong Kong!? That's really interesting as my brother who is a HUGE packer fan moved there last year. My brother and I are actually going to Dallas for the Superbowl <he is coming from HK just for the game>.

I have a slingbox setup for him so he can watch the games over there. Also I know last year he hung out an Irish bar over there and watched BRInt throw those picks. He said guys were drinking Guiness at 7:00AM and that the place was packed with people from all over the world. Send me an email and let me know if you want to get in touch with him: paul_wauk@yahoo.com

Also, I could be wrong, but you may have to fly into Milwaukee. Not sure how big GB's airport is.

No, that's not true. The airport in GB is very close to Lambeau too. You would probably connect in MSP.

It would probably be cheaper flying into Milwaukee but you'll have to balance that with renting a car and driving 2 hours to Green Bay. Cheaper still to fly to Chicago but then an even longer drive to Green Bay. I'm assuming, maybe incorrectly, that saving a few bucks either way isn't a big deal if you are coming all this way to watch the game in GB. If that's the case then just fly to Green Bay.

It's not significantly cheaper to go to Milwaukee. It is cheaper to go to Minneapolis or Chicago, but then th transportation issue applies again.

Just a thought. But why even leave Milwaukee? There are plenty of great places to watch the game in Milwaukee and a lot more additional tourist attractions. There is always the option of taking a trip up to Green Bay for a day to take in the sights.

I would say if he is a Packers fan coming all that way it would be a shame to not do at least a tour of Lambeau, not sure when they do them during the season as I've only ever done the tour in the summer but he should definitely check it out.

Actually, I went to school in Milwaukee. I was there when Green Bay won the Super Bowl in 1996 season. After the game, we party hard all night at Water street, but we missed the parade in Green Bay. What a pity. So for this time, I do not want to miss it again. That is why I want to watch the game nowhere else beside Green Bay.

Walking around Lambeau is the ONLY thing to do in Green Bay. When there isn't a game it's pretty dull too, but worth it for a day trip.

Yeah Green Bay may not be too exciting but Super Bowl weekend it will rock. And to be there for the parade (knock on wood) will be incredible.

Come on, there is tons to do in Green Bay besides visiting Lambeau . You can go shopping at Shopko, drink at a bar, go to the casino, and ummmm well yea.

Return to Green Bay Packers
