Can DeMar Derozan be a legit star player in this league?

Post#1 » by moximus » Tue Jan 25, 2011 6:03 pm

A lot of people are saying his stats are inflated in TOR but his midrange game is quickly becoming quite consistent, and we all know he can jump of the gym. He is seriously lacking the ability to shoot the 3-ball, so do you guys see him developing into a legit star in the NBA next year or so?

no he cannot. I do not have supporting evidence to back my claim, but i know that he will never be a star.

I see him being a 3rd best player on a play off team in his prime, should he get on such a team.

Besides, too ugly to be a star player. :P

He COULD, chances are he won't. I could see him topping out as a Rip Hamilton type player. 20 points, 3-4 rebounds, 3-4 assists.

I'm not seeing star player in his future, no. Probably a solid starter in a few years, though.

I think he's got a bit of "star" potential. A bit...

I believe he will be a star. Averaging over 20 points for the last month or two, and he's been adding to his offensive arsenal consistently and he is a very hard worker.

Pointless to put up a thread about the Raptors on the general board, as most americans don't know **** about our team nor watch our team.

This is true. Raptor fans either get an ignorant point of view or a homerific one. All we can do is wait and see.

You hear stuff like this from canadians/raps fans sometimes but I don't think nationalism has anything to do with it. Most americans don't watch the Kings either. Hell most americans don't watch basketball.

That's like saying:

Pointless to put up a thread asking Raptors fans about the rest of the NBA on the general board, as most Canadians don't know **** about the other 29 teams nor watch other teams.

Clearly I'm talking about american basketball fans..

I'm just saying that probably most american's can't name half our team, which I can't say is true for the Kings. I don't mind though, it's being good that counts and I believe we're on the right track.

LOL, I doubt most American basketball fans really know that Toronto is in a different country from Sacramento, and certainly none care. They know the names of more established players on good teams, but not on bad teams wherever they are. Certainly a hell of a lot more knew Vince Carter and Chris Bosh than anybody on the Kings since Webber.

My point is that if people had been watching Derosa the last 2 months, the responses in this thread wouldn't be so negative about his future.

And you guys have 28 other teams in your country to follow its not like we do, so it's not the same.

of course he has Star potential that was said when he was drafted and hes starting to show big improvments. Do i ever see him as a star franchise players like kobe? obviously not but he will probly be making quite a few all star games in his career id think.

I doubt he'll ever be a star, but he could be a number 2/3 scorer on a team I think .

High end Derozan in his Prime could be a 21-23ppg 4-6rpg 3-4apg throw in a steal and half a block and the potential for a "Play of the Day" every time he steps on the court, this guy could be special. His midrange has always been pretty solid and if he can be a little more consistent, guys will play tighter and open up some lanes. Hes got a good first step and can finish in traffic. Most importantly of all, hes gaining confidence and is a hard worker that thrives to get better. The refs are starting to give him the benefit of the doubt, and who decides whose going to be a star more then them?

DeMar could eventually become a Monta Ellis kind of player if he applies himself
