No, it wasn't a pop-up but an ad that appears on the page like the "Friday's" ad for example.

This is the pic that came up:

Valentines day gift ideas..

Post#343 » by Boss_ » Tue Jan 25, 2011 8:26 pm

Hey guys I need some help. Last year I was unemployed from January to August and I moved to Long Island at the same time.

Make a long story short, I got a bunch of bills that came in from new years and christmas..spent

$400 on a hand truck I needed for work
$350 for new years hotel/food/drinks with my gf (She lives extremely far and I didnt want to drink n drive for new years so had to do it)
$450 xmas gift for my gf (yeah I know her computer broke n I baught her a "decent" laptop),
$125 for something for her parents house for xmas..aside from my truck payment/cell/cable/bla bla..and a good $400 on gas for the month =p
Just last week took her out to dinner n drinks n ran a 200 tab..I spent like a grand for the month on the holidays pretty much.

Anyway..valentines day is coming upnow, and I'm alittle tight on money right now. Usually what most people get are jewlery and roses that cost like 60 for a dozen lol..and then dinner. I dont really want to blow another $500 on one day.

The thing is i'd like to propose to my gf probably at the end of the year so I need to start saving up money for that and for a few other things.

It's pretty slow right now with work, anyone got any ideas for Valentines day that can help me out instead of the traditional jewlery/roses/fancy dinner?

Ad Block block those. If you have it installed on FF, you can just right-click the Ad and select Block from the menu that appears.

Take her to dinner at a good restaurant, then to some nice river-side locales around the City (like the Bridge for example).

Then you can give her a good, but not too expensive piece of jewelery to close off the night before you get it on.

Places like Kay's or Jared's usually run nice promos in the weeks leading up to Valentine's Day.

Good luck! :)

How about a trip to a day spa? If you're in the area, check this place out. I had a great time.

Well if you think you can pick it out a nice accessory (i.e. scarf, gloves, etc) can work and you can spend way less than $100.

Also perfume or any kind of lotion/perfume set. Those also work well. Your S.O. probably understands things are tight so you should have some leeway hopefully.

The best gift you can give is time. Make a day where she does not move an inch. Cook, pamper and tackle the box all day. Though it shouldn't have to be a Joliet for you to do this.

If she can't understand that bills are tight and still expect to get wine'd and dine'd....I won't say move on, but I will say don't ever forget that.
