Deron, have you given Hayward a DVD with clips from previous games showing him what you would like him to do to run the floor better?

Didn't think so!

So now it's William's job to teach players the proper rotations??? It's sad when people are so pro-orgainzation that they attack their team's best player constantly.....BTW your posting style is reminding me of a banned poster here....can't place your old name tho

It just seems to me that DWill grew acostumed to those players, namely Boozer (and Memo), since he'd been with him since his rookie season. It's easy to have a better chemistry with a player you've been your whole profesional career with. Now he has new set of players and he, just like them, have to adjust to create new chemistry. I think DWill wants the "new" guys to magically perform like the "old" guys and is having a longing moment. He has to realize that this is a NEW team and he's just as much a part of it as all those "new guys". Everyone has to work together. He can't exect them to mold to him, and he not mod to others. Just my 2¢.

I don't deny Jeffersons' style of play is slower than we would like but is it really that bad of a thing? Nearly every time he gets the ball and takes his time on the block something good happens. He either gets a quality shot off or passes the ball back out to an open man/cutter. I can see why it feels like he might break the tempo of the offense with his slow play but it really doesn't have as big of a negative effect on the offense as everyone thinks.

I'm not saying I know this for certain but I would really like to see some numbers on when Jefferson gets the ball and takes his time with it. I bet more often than not something good comes out of it.

Watching those old videos of Malone dominating the Lakers, I wish he would come in here and tutor Al. Al has all the tools, except for the body of atlas, to do what Malone did here night in and night out, but he has had terrible training on how to play like a big man. Watch Malone, how often did he hold the ball for more than 1 or 2 seconds before making his move? Al is at his best when he makes a quick move or pump fake, and goes straight to the hoop, or straight up with his shot.

Malone was so tough to box out because he knew how to get low and use his mass to his advantage. Al has got to learn to do the same. He plays straight up way too much. Fighting Malone for position left the other players bruised and battered. Al can do the same, maybe not quite as well, but should be able to do similarly. He may not be as wide or as cut as Malone, but he is tall and has decent mass. He needs some major big man training, and I hope he gets it this off season. And I wish he would hit the weights really hard. His whole body could use more muscle mass, especially his legs. Will this happen? I highly doubt it, but it would do wonders for his game and for the team.

Like I've said before, this team needs practice time and a better game plan to implement their various skills together effectively. I'm not all about blowing up what we've got. Al has shown he can do what we need, and so has Millsap. Now that teams have figured out how to guard what they've shown them, they need to plan better to still make it work. Neither Al nor Sap should be on the court at the same time, at least not for extended periods or against bad matchups. There are problems created for the 2nd unit in the case of either of them coming off the bench, but I would rather have the 1st unit performing optimally and have the 2nd be hampered with spacing issues.

I had a crazy thought today.

Did Boozer make Deron a better player? Rose sure is looking good right now.

Of course. Malone made Stockton a better player. The question is if Al can do the same. I think he has the ability, but I'm questioning his work ethic.

I don't think it's his work ethic or attitude. Or deficit in skill. What he lacks is the acumen to concentrate and anticipate. Too basketball-dumb, on what I've seen; almost all of his mistakes or failures have been mental. And I really don't think that can be worked on.

I don't think he's too dumb to learn how to box out and start to make innitiate his offensive moves quicker. In fact I would argue that with his foot work being what it is all he needs is to practice those two things a bit, because he has the tools and the skill. I still believe that he is on of the five best post players in the league, he just needs to realize what it takes to utilize that skill properly.

He knows full well how to box out, but he's often so far out of the realm of his opponent that it seems like it's the furthest thing from his mind. A lapse in concentration.

Would you not concede that a failure to realise something is a matter of the mind?
