Vince Carter re-injured knee

Post#1 » by StuffTheDragon » Tue Jan 25, 2011 6:05 pm

In games that he has played at least 20 minutes, Vince Carter has had two of his career's four lowest-scoring games on Wednesday (three points) and Monday (two). Carter, who has made 10 of 40 shots in the past four games, said he aggravated a past knee sprain Saturday and had swelling.

I wouldn't mind some DNP's at all, injured or not, this gives Gentry a good enough excuse to bench him.

I've been a Vince fan through it all, but he has shown a complete lack of respect to the game of basketball the last 4 games. No man making $16million a year should be allowed to not even TRY out there.

I'd be fine with benching him for however long it takes right now. He's playing like an absolute bum.

Agreed. We have the resources to survive without him (and possibly thrive with more effort coming from our SG position). Vince is most likely not a part of the Suns' plans after this season anyways so more playing time to players that will be here long term is a plus.

Dude's obviously mailed it in knowing he probably won't be around next season.

Absolutely. This is why Carter is hated by many fans. We all know he's got the talent, but the guy just doesn't give a ****. He's like Baron Davis. He needs REASON to compete, the money isn't good enough. Get this douche outta here. (Sorry, I'm a Canadian, a Raptors fan, and I have pre-biased hate for this man).

Carter thought he might have a chance here, and did a good job. Than he realized that we wernt going to pay JRiCH his money and came to the conclusion that he wasnt going to stay a Sun.

Its sad because im a VC fan (and have him on 3 of my 4 fantasy teams). :(

I don't get it. He is not playing well now BECAUSE it's his contract year?
If I were him I'd bust my ass off, then get a nice contract and sag off. And who in the right frame of mind would offer someone of his caliber a 10+mil annual contract for a 33 year old SG who doesn't really play that hard and is injury prone? He should know better.

Oh well, I don't mind not seeing him play. As a matter of fact, I love to see him not play at all. More for JChill I guess.

He doesn't want to be here. We should be seeing what we have in our Childress investment. And Gentry's dumbazz should quit rosterbating over small ball. Some fans are sick of it.

At this point I would rather watch a lineup of Dragic/Dudley/Childress/Frye/Gortat finish the season and see if any of these guys can have a breakthrough. Time for the youth movement, Sarver step out of fantasy land.

So if VC sits for an extended period, does Dudley start or do they keep him with the bench and start MP?

Nash, Pietrus, Hill, Frye, Lopez
Dragic, Dudley, Childress, Warrick, Gortat

Or

Nash, Dudley, Hill, Frye, Lopez
Dragic, Pietrus, Childress, Warrick, Gortat

Tbo I don't really love either of those as we have a starting lineup of 5 guys with at least a midrange jumpshot, but really only 2 on the bench. Dragic needs space and Childress/ Warrick/ Gortat don't really provide that. How about:

Nash/ Childress/ Hill/ Frye/ Lopez
Dragic/ Dudley/ Pietrus/ Warrick/ Gortat

Frye and Lopez are good shooters as far as bigs go, we can play them out to free up the interior for our perimeter guys to slash/ post. Chill is 6'8 I believe and could easily post a SG defender. Typical suns style where bigs play out and wings exploit mismatches inside and gobble up boards with their athleticism.

Anyway, enough rambling.

Excellent. So without VC, our wing rotation becomes solidified. Dudley/Hill as my starters, Chilly/Peaches as their backups.

I would not be surprised for him to elect to have surgery and be shelved for the season.

He knows his situation. Nobody was going to take his option, nowhere, no how. Its 'here's 3 bills Vince, thank you very much, good luck finding a job'. That was a given.

He's bummed to be here. Who wouldn't be at this point ? Winning is a lot more fun, especially when you are used to it.

Hope he goes back to atleast giving us 20 or so a game though. Its sad but without him, the double Nash and watch the Suns suffer thing is gonna be even worse..if that's possible. Damn we need a first option.

Yes. Let Dudley start, which is what he's deserved to do ever since J-Rich was traded.
