I think we're going to have to end up doing something like

Randolph
Gallinari
1st round pick (that we get by trading Wilson Chandler)
Curry (expiring)
2nd round picks

That's a lot for Melo especially since we're really the only bidders left but you must understand that Denver isn't trading him for peanuts. If we just lowball them they'll end up keeping him and the money situation might force him to sign an extension with them.

I hope to God you aren't suggesting trade Wilson for nothing but a 1st rounder. I also hope that we get more than just Melo with that package.

Not encouraging, frankly. Melo is most likely getting poor, selfish advice from his agents. I know it looks like the Knicks are home free but beware -- when dishonest people like Leon Rose and WWW are involved, you definitely cannot count on anything. What you can probably count on is a strange, manipulative or just plain bad set of events that pull the rug out from under you.

Seems like his agents will stand on their heads to get him to sign the extension before the deadline, and I think that Melo does not seem to get that he is definitely NOT screwed if he doesn't sign the extension. In fact, he'll be just fine.

However, Melo doesn't seem to grasp that and it's very probable that his agents are not informing him fully. Oh well.

Guys don't let that concern you. Melo is no dummy. Yes, one can be manipulated. However, it's pretty obvious that even if he signs the extension TODAY. That extension will be adjusted along with all of the other players; and that's IF that even happens. Again, the players association will never go for Rudy Gay making more than Melo. If makes no sense. :D

The problem with Chandler is he's in the last year of his contract and is going to want 10+ million dollars per year. Any team that trades for him is fully aware of this... that drastically reduces his value.

Dunno man, he is saying he'll be 'Screwed' if he doesn't sign before the deadline. Seems to have little awareness of even the possibility that the league will rollback all contracts.

Can a mod please talk with mods over on the denver board and tell them not to be such a Pr^%^& I just reviewed a couple pages over there and they is just on some sort of delusional power trip. Instead over trying to calm the situation the dude is just flaming it on up.
Dudes over there need to realize there is no LA crap happening if they try to play this Mello may just walk from them. It should be pretty obvious Mello is dictating where he is going to be long term. They need to stop pretending and picking and choosing which news they want to pay attention too.
But back on topic if the They want Randolph it makes it better for us please take him. I would prefer to keep Gallo and Fields

Ah, best to let them be. They are in a bad spot where Melo is dictating terms and they're about to lose their franchise player for pennies on the dollar, most likely. That's why they're so high strung so best to steer clear of their rage.

From what I have seen around the NBA, is the only people that think Chandler will ask for that much are Knick Fans in this forum. No one in the NBA is even coming close to that figure for Chandler, they are saying between 6-8M for Chandler, certainly not what your taking about.

We could hire a Blimp with flashing lights that say "Melo ignore your lawyers, agents, wife and accountants, because the Knick board says you wont lose much. "

and plus we care enough to get you a blimp.

Christ almighty, just leave them alone already. You guys have been swarming that board since last August. They don't want to hear it, and they don't need to hear what we have to say.

Is Melo just playing dumb?
He hasn't spoken to management? The Jersey meeting? He doesn't know....
Is he this much in the dark?
If so, why not just sign the extension and end the charade?

I knew Chipmunk face was going to crack about his money. Dude wants his paper and with Walsh coming up saying he ain't breaking up the team it ain't looking so hot for Team Melo/CAA lol. Denver also seems very content to ride it out as would I.

When this is all over, I'm anticipating the usual Woj article that pulls back the curtains on wth is going on with Melo's agents and/or Denver's FO. It seems one or both of those parties are hellbent on not sending to Melo to NY. Now that NJ is gone, seems to me like they're scrambling to find any partner not named NY to deal with -- first Chicago, now Clippers.

I can understand why Denver wouldn't want to deal with us, even if it's pretty unprofessional not to try and get the best package out of pure spite, but I'm smh at Melo's agents. Really poor representation. With NJ gone, they should've been working hard to assemble an acceptable NY package, not trying to convince Chicago or LAC to get in on the action.

I am concerned. I am concerned at the comments Melo is making being so neutral, and even refering to NJ as a possibility of a meeting to be agreed upon for a possibile trade (even though he said it was "off the table"), still cause for concern. I am concerned that Chicago was brought up. I am concerned that he is possibly indicating that they may be trying to work something out with another team. This to me shows that Donnie is offering maybe just AR, Curry, and TD, who knows.
