Re: [Camelo Thread Part 12] - Maybe its time
Melo is doing what's best for this situation. Him saying he doesn't know and whatnot is exactly what he should be doing. It's not a cause for concern at all IMO. He's trying really hard not to be a villain.

This thread is slowing down.
I set the O/U at 16 back on thread 8 and everybody said "under." Bet the O/U before an actual trade is closer to 20 now.

My hope that Melo will be a Knick at the deadline is 5% right now. Denver seems to think they have a better shot of re-signing him than anything the Knicks have to offer.

This is exactly my point. Some people on here seem to think that since we're the only real bidders left that we can just offer whatever we want and eventually Denver will cave in. But that isn't the case... if Denver doesn't get an offer that they like they'll just keep Melo and hope he signs an extension with them. It's a huge gamble but I think they're willing to take the risk.

If that's our worst-case scenario, we're in a great shape.

Why is it a huge gamble? Like their franchise is saved by getting Gallinari and two future firsts? They're ****'ed if they do and ****'ed if they don't. I don't see it as a gamble, I see it as smart. See what Carmelo really does when the season is over and a lockout is imminent. I bet he signs the extension. I would.

Denver wants our entire team. Plus they want us to take back two bad contracts. That's the only thing that will satisfy them. Here is an example from the Denver board:
So for the Knicks it would look like
Randolph
Chandler
Fields or Turiaf
Mozgov
Curry
Azubuike
for
Melo
Harrington
Andersen
That's what you want to give them? Let Denver keep him and lose him in free agency. Melo is not going to sign that extension with a team he no longer wants to play for. Look, lets face it-when he first came into the NBA he knew he had to deal with not having a choice. You think he's going to let anyone manipulate him when he has control. He's not stupid he knows that there is no threat of not getting his money at the end of the day. If there is a lockout and Melo is not signed then so be it he won't get paid BUT neither will anyone else. And when they start playing ball again. He'll sign his extension with the Knicks and get paid then and so will everybody else. You really believe that WE are the only people that know this. The guy has been in the NBA for 8 years, has been paid over 75 million dollars and he doesn't have advisers from THE PLAYERS ASSOCIATION that can inform him. Come on people. He's just trying to minimize being portrayed as the villain.

I'd be much more inclined to give them a big group of players if we got Nene back along with Carmelo. Felton/Carmelo/Amar'e/Nene + hopefully Gallo would be a really good core.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they hired Kroenke and Ujiri straight off the RGM Denver board.

Re: [Camelo Thread Part 12] - Maybe its time
Do you guys think we can get the Kings to help us out ?
Knicks Trade :
Wilson Chandler
Eddy Curry
Kelenna Azubuike
Anthony Randolph
Bill Walker
Ronny Turiaf
Roger Mason
2011 Knicks 1st round pick
2014 Knicks 1st round pick
2nd Round pick via GS
3 Mil Cash
Knicks get :
Carmelo Anthony
Chris Anderson
Renaldo Balkman
Francesco Garcia
Denver Trades:
Chris Anderson
Renaldo Balkman
Carmelo Anthony
Denver gets :
Anthony Randolph
Eddy Curry
Kelenna Azubuike
Ronny Turiaf
Bill Walker
Jason Thompson
Omri Casspi
2011 knicks first round pick
2014 Knicks first round pick
2011 Kings 2nd round pick
3 Mill Cash
Kings trade :
Omri Casspi
Jason Thompson
Franseco Garcia
2011 2nd round pick
Kings get :
Wilson Chandler
Roger Mason
2nd round pick Knicks via GS
Why Kings ?
Wilson Chandler is better than Casspi and Thompson. If there are looking to build a core. This is the chance. Imagine Evans/Chandler/Cousins. That is a great mix of talent. They may not want to give up both Thompson and Casspi but they are saving BIG money on us taking on Garcia's Contract. Allowing them to resign Chandler to a good deal. With money still left to fill other holes. Botton Line Kings save big money. Upgrade in Chandler. Now has a young big 3. Evans/Chandler/Cousins. All under the age of 24.
Why Knicks ?
Cons: We take on ALOT of money and ALOT of long term deals. We lose Turiaf .
pros: We get Carmelo Anthony. Enough Said. We get Chris Anderson , he is a perfect Center for this uptempo system and hustles and plays D. He will replace Turiaf. We add Garcia , Yes his contract is crazy. But how else to we get Kings to give up both casspi and thompson along with that 2nd round pick that will be either 1st or 2nd ? But look at the good side. He is a TRUE SG. He can shoot Lights out. He is a good shooter. Fills a need , helps spread the floor. We add Renaldo Balkman , his contract is lengthy , but he can be a good hustle off the bench guy , provide some dunks here and there , i remember when he was here , he was good , hustled! , he can provides some spot minutes.
Why Denver ?
I can explain how much money they save in this deal. !. They get rid of Andersons and Balkman contracts. They replace Anderson with Turiaf , who contract is cheaper and shorter. They save money on Curry Contract , which is half paid. They save money on Buike Contract because insurance covers some of it. We throw in 3 mil to pay off either curry or buike contract. They get Anthony Randolph under a rookie contract. They get Casspi under a rookie contract. They get Thompson under a rookie contract. They get Bill Walker under a rookie contract. They get 2 first round draft picks. You can say 3 because Kings 2nd round pick is like a late first and they save money because it a non gaurateen contract. DENVER GETS WHAT THEY WANT. Bottom line , Young good prospects under cheap contract , save money and add draft picks..
Knicks Line up
Felton / Douglas
Garcia / Fields
Melo / Gallo / Williams
STAT / Williams / Balkman
Birdman / Mozgov
Than we use the MLE and LLE for a Bigman and a VET back up PG.
Any Thoughts ?

This should be posted everyone says Denver is messing up their franchise by not trading Carmelo.

The way this guy keeps changing his tune says everything about why he is who he is. First he says he's not afraid to become a FA, then he emphasizes wanting the extension.
Push comes to shove, Anthony may cave in to Denver - or he may not. Nobody knows. Hell, he doesn't know. Either way, I don't care. At this point, he's become an extraordinary distraction.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but I find it interesting that Denver chose not to re-up Warkentien (sp?), who happens to be friendly with Donnie, just as this whole Carmelo thing began to stir. Seems like from the very beginning they've tried to keep Melo away from the Knicks. However it goes down in the end, I sure hope the whole thing blows up in their faces. Stern should impose sanctions on them for f'ing up the Nets and their own seasons, and for wasting countless other teams' time with all this BS. What their front office is doing is almost like what Lebron and his cronies did last year.
Really? Jared Jeffries. Seriously?

He's saying its a huge gamble by Denver to keep Melo beyond the trade deadline. He thinks they are crazy enough to do it.

I've got a feeling that it's going to be a roller coaster ride until the trade deadline. 2 days ago it was "inevitable" that Carmelo was going to be a Knick, last night it looked like he's leaning on resigning with Denver, today an "NBA executive" is saying New Jersey will be back in the race... Tomorrow there will probably be a report that we're still in it. It's all on Denver to end the madness.
Really? Jared Jeffries. Seriously?
