Re: Robert Sarver is a disease
Blah Blah Blah. We could've had "this," if we did "that", and we could've made it to "that" if we jsut did "this." Blah Blah Blah.
Stop dwelling on the past. Yes we know our front office has made mistakes, but what is the use of looking back and thinking "what could've" been.
Sorry. I really don't see the point of this thread.

Re: Robert Sarver is a disease
- Wasn't it said that David Griffin really liked Rondo, but D'Antoni said he would never play him, or something like that?
Seriously, people need to stop talking about the Rondo thing. The New York writer who once reported that D'antoni wouldn't play Rondo bc he couldn't shoot actually recanted his stance on that because it was flat-out wrong. The Suns never drafted Rondo because they liked him or the way he played. Rondo was drafted FOR the Celtics at the Celtics request, so Boston would take Brian Grant's contract.
He played a big role in costing the Suns that Game 1 in the 2008 playoffs which started their downfall. (Not putting Hill on Finley when Finley hit that 3 pointer to send it to OT, then choosing not to foul which led to Duncan's 3 pointer to send it to double overtime.)
1. Didn't Hill re-injure his groin during game 1? He didn't play at all in games four or five and only played around 20 minutes in games 1-3. Expecting D'antoni to play him extended minutes when injured wasn't realistic at the time.
2. Blame Amar'e for not following simple defensive principles--Amar'e should have switched out onto Finley after Tim Duncan picked off Leandro Barbosa underneath the basket. The Spurs ran Finley around a myriad of screens to get open for the shot that forced overtime, and Amar'e proved to be the Suns weak link defensively once again.
Edit: I found the info on that Hill injury from game 1:
SAN ANTONIO -- Suns forward Grant Hill didn’t do much in Game 1 against San Antonio, scoring just five points on 2-of-4 shooting. Now we know why.
Hill reinjured his groin while taking a charge from Michael Finley 23 seconds into the game and the injury could limit his effectiveness during the series.
“It was bothering me yesterday (Saturday),” Hill said. “I felt pretty good to start the game but as we went along, it started to wear on me.”
The injury prevented the Suns from sticking Hill on point guard Tony Parker in the fourth quarter, a tactic that was successful in the regular season. He only lasted a few possessions before coach Mike D’Antoni went back to Leandro Barbosa.
“It’s one thing to guard a guy sitting in the corner, another to guard him,” Hill said. “But I anticipate getting right and guarding him. It just wasn’t there yesterday.”
D’Antoni said he’ll watch Hill more carefully in Game 2 for signs that the groin is bothering him.
“Looking back at the tape he was hurting more than I thought,” he said. “There were a couple of defensive plays he was really hurting. He showed a lot of courage to be out there but we’re going to have to have an understanding that if he’s hurt, he’s hurt. He’s going to have to come and tell me.”

Phoenix Suns finish with a 29-53 record for '03-'04
Sarver buys the Suns in June of '04
One of Sarver's first moves is to give a 30 year old, very good, yet hardly consistant PG with some back issues named Steve Nash a 65 million/6 year contract.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1833028
Suns go on quite a run. They become North America's favorite team or everyone's 2nd favorite team for 4 seasons. Then made another great run in year 6.
Yes! The 6 and a half years Sarver has owned the team has been a roller coaster. Sometimes frustrating and confusing, but more often it's been very exciting and some damn good basketball teams. The Suns easily could have won a couple championships with a just little luck and with every Sarver move left in place.
Yes, he's scaled back the payroll in the last 2 years, but he went well into the lux tax when the title was close. He does want to win. He is not cheap, though he's not a huge spender.
Far from perfect, but the worst owner in basketball? Really? He bought the team when they were near the bottom. There are at least 12 or 15 NBA fan bases, that would trade to get Sarver for their own "clueless" and "cheap" owner.
They're all clueless when things are not going so great, but judging the 6.5 years Sarver has owned the team, he's way above the curve.
The Sarver Suns had quite the run despite falling short of the ultimate prize and they are in good position to relatively quickly get back into the mix. The trade asset cupboard is fairly well stocked and the financial flexability is in good shape.

Re: Robert Sarver is a disease
I wouldn't blame Sarver for too many things but he could have gave up like a mil or two to get the final piece to win a championship. Most of the blame should go to the past coaches like D'Antoni and also management. I believe that our future looks brighter than most of our fans think. Hopefully the Suns win a championship soon with Nash and Hill on the team.

lol--A mil or two? What "final piece" are you referring to that was available for a mil or two?

um sir.......steve nash was all colangelo's doing. colangelo set this team up better than perfectly when he left(prob left cuz he realized sarver was such a douche too). We had the best team ever assembled with best future and multiple first round picks that BC acquired in previous trades and sarver sold them all. i have no idea how anyone can even remotely support sarver, it blows my mind. but hey everyone is entitled to their opinion.
look at our team now...im sorry im beating a dead horse but i have nothing else to talk about at the moment because i know this team is going nowhere with sarver and no matter what realistic good trades or moves i can come up with, sarver will always do the opposite because his focus is his wallet and winning a decent amount of games to still sell season tickets. but that not only will berely let us sneak in the playoffs even if we can(which is not even looking good), but we will never just fully tank and draft a stud because sarver knows he weill make no money or sell tickets during that time.
heck, even right now we can be a move or two away from compteting again (ie. trading for zach randolph) but he will not do that either because randolph is not a big name that will sell merchandise, but vince carter is.
its the sad truth, some people can bash me for saying these things but i am speaking from 6 years of seeing this man slowly kill our team like cancer.
i feel so bad for nash too because he had all these title oppurtunities stolen from him during his best years due to incompetent management. he was even crying after suns lost last year to LA and that made me tear up too. he deserves so much better than our team

lol i hate my name now how do i change it? honestly a big reason why i made this account under this name was to talk trash to lakers fans and tell them that there was good chance that okc was gonna beat them even when they were down 0-2 because i thought la would have a difficult time with okc's athleticism and serge ibaka was going to contain pau. but i didnt want to create a suns name and make them believe i was only saying this because i was a suns homer lol, and i didnt want to give our fans a bad name. but ya i love talking about the suns too and i want to change this stupid name lol
