Why do you keep songs you don't like on deck? Did you pay for them? There isn't light with JC he's okay, just like Drake okay, just like Lupe okay. I absolutely love Drake's Fear and IMO he hasn't come close to releasing anything to it but I'm not going to blow him up to high heavens over 1 song or even a couple. This is the problem with the new gen heads it only takes less than a handful of songs to be considered Incredible I don't get it.

I got his unreleased on hotnewhiphop and just never deleted them. And I don't think Drake is good because of one song I think he's good because of two mixtaped and an album that wasn't terrible. FNL was a damn good mixtape. One of the best mixtapes of the year between More About Nothing. B.o.B's two mixtapes, and Kush & OJ.

Comeback Season was great, since then Drake has been okay to lame...Fear is a great example of great flow over a hot beat...but I think it's his most overrated joint. It sounds like he took his three favorite verses off of random pages in his notebook instead of actually sitting and writing that day...because conceptually he goes from a love of music and building legacy verse to the most irritating opening bars to a verse ever that don't even follow the rest of the verse (which is about friends) to a verse about to being on top sucks...it's so loosely connected for me (I suppose it could be a sequence of events). The rhyme structure is basic too. It's a typical Drake style song with a fresh beat and hook, tight flow, and if you single out the verses they have more substance...but the substance feels artificial to me as usual.

I think Drake is only relevant now because he has a great flow. His lyrics have deteriorated overtime but his flow stays the same. I also think his and 9th Wonders best song was Think Good Thoughts:

Conceptually Fear is a great song but to each his own. What I got from the song is how he developed and rooted a love in hip-hop that doesn't follow the same line of thinking as others.... to reflecting on the payoff and the ride along the way...... what he observed to reminding himself where he came from and what keeps him going. He doubled up in a couple stanzas but this is what I got from it. Ultimately getting some stuff off his chest. I think what hurts Drake is the fact he fell into some monotonous patterns, therefore looking at this discography since, doesn't allow for greater appreciation for his past work. Drake goes in and out of thinking he's a gimmick which he borderline is.

Check the first page lol. It's actually the third time he released the song (first time without a chorus, second time with Kevin Cossum doing the chorus, and the most recent with B.o.B).

When Drake was rolling with Phonte and 9th...he was a better rapper period. Think Good Thoughts is one of my favorites because I'm a huge fan of Little Brother and it just sounds like a Minstrel Show joint.

My favorite track by Drake...probably ever...

You WON'T hear Drake dumb out for 2 and a half minutes before the hook even hits ever again...and he has nothing to do with the hook. Peep the rhyme scheme, content and flow...all on point.

What do you guys think of this battle. Personally I can't stand the way Heartless spits. Or anyone else in the S.O.N.S to be honest. Big Kannon is a beast though.

It's surprisingly good to me, didn't expect that at all really.
Nor did I expect Gutter Rainbows to be boring but never the less most of it was. Sad.

Man I loved Think God Thoughts because I love Sweet Love so when he sampled that like that I was blown away. Yeah I alwasy defend Drake when people say he's wack. He just got brainwashed into rapping senseless like Lil Wayne. Lil Wayne makeseveryone in Young Money rap like him except Gunz and Millz because they were hot before they signed with him. Well not hot but around.

While it certainly came out when he was established there is something about this beat/song that I just love.

On a side note I notice alot that people on the net have a undergrounf fetish which is cool but that shouldn't make you disregard ALL mainstream. They're are still guys like Drake who go in. When TML dropped it had a good amount of bumpable songs but the problem was the radio raped the album and dashed it way when it was all squeezed out and tired.

Big Kannon underperformed here but still took it easily. I can't stand the S.O.N.S. for the most part either. Brixx is tolerable sometimes and i can still watch conceited's first round against arsonal but overall I hate that wordplay garbage and name flips with a passion now. It's tough sittin through full rounds of that trash.

who's your top 5?

Mine's Hollow, Goodz, Nocando, Locksmith, and Rex (throw in K shine if you don't count Lock since he hasn't battled in a minute)

A top 5 in the battle game is hard to come up with now a days. If I HAD to choose I would include Hollow which is a no brainer, Illmaculate, Nocando, Dizaster, and Soul Khan. But its real hard to leave out guys like Madness, Real Deal, Pat Stay etc. etc.

And yeah S.O.N.S. is so overrated its sickening. If you need to repeat your lines then they aren't dope. Conceited is the most overrated piece of crap period. He is the only legitimate "big win" Arsonal has. And Arsonal demolished him. He is lucky to come away with that decision against Illmac and is ducking ducking Soul Khan, Okwerdz and Hollow. He would probably accept the Okwerdz battle, but knows he would take tons of heat for not accepting either Hollow or Soul Khan.

i heard the first 4 or 5 songs on purp and patron as well as i'm the king. i gotta say, it sounds like a hot mixtape. i'm the king could be a single. he's got so many features on this thing, idk why he didn't just make it an album.
