ESPN: Jays farm system ranked 4th in the league

Post#1 » by Relentless88 » Thu Jan 27, 2011 2:47 am

Keith Law did an insider article on who he thought had the top farms. Jays were ranked 4th.

Here are the top 10 rankings:
1) Kansas City Royals
2) Tampa Bay Rays
3) Atlanta Braves
4) Toronto Blue Jays
5) Philadelphia Phillies
6) Los Angeles Angels
7) Minnesota Twins
8) Cincinnati Reds
9) New York Yankees
10) Seattle Mariners

4. Toronto Blue Jays
A year ago, I wrote that the Jays might have ranked last without the talent infusion from the Scott Rolen and Roy Halladay trades. In the past 12 months, they saw a few in-house guys take steps forward, traded for another impact prospect in Brett Lawrie and had another solid draft, to the point that I left some likely big leaguers off their Top 10 for lack of room. The organizational turnaround in the year-plus since Alex Anthopoulos took over as GM has been impressive.

Weren't we like 28th last year? That is one insane climb. The future just keeps looking brighter and brighter.

Incredible turnaround plus they've got 7 high picks this year. Add in a few later round overslots and a couple high end int'l signings and who knows where they'll end up next year.

What was our highest ranking during the JP era? Were we ever in the top 10?

Nurse is below average at best.
Masai is overrated.

To Law? Of course not. But I think we were 9th or so on BA's or BP's list at least one year.
