I called for this move earlier in the offseason... but after getting a better look at AA's philosophy during the past few months it looks like aquiring him would make little sense now.

I thought Cox's column about Bautista's PED use trumps this, although I admit it's is pretty bad. I generally like Griffin, so it's disappointing to read what seems clearly to be contractual-obligation nonsense. He's gotta write something.

Unless ... Griffin has a deep background source that he doesn't want to burn. That's the only logical explanation. But I don't think it makes sense for the Jays to take on the 48 mill contract of a 34-year-old. AA's recent speech makes it clear that the Jay's are not going for it year, that innings will continue to be limited for Morrow and other young pitchers, that EE could be this year's Bautista. Between Bautista, Johnny Mac, maybe EE and eventually Lawrie, 3rd base should be covered this season and going forward. Why trade for Lawrie, move him to third, and then pick up MY? Makes no sense.
