Looks plausible to me, Cleveland drafts another hometown guy who is much less likely to bolt...Bogdanavic is a good Euro prospect, possible the best outside of Valancianus and Kanter, so I would put him higher. But, I don't think he declares...

Cibona, the team Bogdanovic plays for, is having financial issues. There's talk that there won't be a team next season. He could transfer to another team. But given how well he played in EL, he would be stupid not to declare.

Minnesota owns this pick if it is 17 or higher I beleive.

1. Cleveland Cavaliers - C Jonas Valanciunas - Lietuvos Rytas
I had Sullinger as my #1 pick. However, after thinking about the Lebron debacle, I doubt Cleveland takes another homegrown talent. Cleveland may try another route for rebuilding their franchise. This route could be international.

2. Minnesota T'Wolves - PF Perry Jones - Baylor
- If Rubio decides to come over, Jones should complement his game.

3. Sacramento Kings - PF Jared Sullinger - Ohio State
- He's the most NBA ready of any player in draft.

4. Toronto Raptors - G Kyrie Irving - Duke
- The Raptors lack a viable point guard. Irving makes sense depth wise for Toronto.

5. Washington Wizards - F Terrence Jones - Kentucky
- This pick is about familiarity of system. Jones is playing for Calipari, and Wall has played for Calipari. GM's tend to draft players who've played for the same coach.

6. New Jersey Nets - G Kemba Walker - Connecticut
- Devin Harris will likely get traded, either by the deadline or in the summer. The Nets will need a piece in the backcourt going forward. Walker looks like the only worthwhile guard at this juncture.

7. Detroit Pistons - PF Derrick Williams - Arizona
- I doubt Prince or Villanueva will be in Detroit next season. Look for Detroit to fill the void by either with a forward.

8. LA Clippers - SG/SF Harrison Barnes - North Carolina
- I think Clippers will use this pick to get a point guard. For the time being, I'll put Barnes at this spot.

9. Milwaukee Bucks - G Jimmer Fredette - Brigham Young
- This team is lacking a scoring threat. Fredette is a bit of risk, but teams often take risks in the lottery.

10. Charlotte Bobcats - PF John Henson - North Carolina
- This is a pretty easy decision for Jordan and Charlotte. Just draft a Tarheel.

11. Golden State Warriors - SF Jordan Hamilton - Texas
- Hamilton would flourish in the run and gun system. He would likely struggle in an organized offensive scheme.

12. Houston Rockets - C Donatas Motiejunas - Bennetton Basket
- The Rockets desperately need a center. This is even more of the case with Yao likely retiring or leaving via FA.

13. Indiana Pacers - SG Alec Burks - Colorado
- With Fredette off the board, Pacers will look at another scoring guard like Burks.

14. Philadelphia 76ers - PF Tristan Thompson - Texas
- The Sixers could take a chance on an up-and-coming prospect like Thompson.

15. Phoenix Suns - F Jan Vesely - Partizan

16. New York Knicks - C Enes Kanter - Kentucky

17. Memphis Grizzlies - G Brandon Knight - Kentucky

18. Portland Trailblazers - PF/C JaJuan Johnson - Purdue

19. Utah Jazz - G Nolan Smith - Duke

20. Denver Nuggets - PF Marcus Morris - Kansas

21. New Orleans Hornets - F Kawhi Leonard - San Diego State

22. Atlanta Hawks - SG/SF Bojan Bogdanovic - Cibona

23. Orlando Magic - PF Markieff Morris - Kansas

24. Oklahoma City Thunder - C Lucas Nogueira - Estudiantes

25. Chicago Bulls - G Demetri McCamey - Illinois

26. LA Lakers - G Josh Selby - Kansas

27. Dallas Mavericks - SF Jeff Taylor - Vanderbilt

28. Miami Heat - PF Trey Thompkins - Georgia

29. Boston Celtics - F Kyle Singler - Duke

Honestly don't see Valanciunas being picked first overall, but would love the draft to go like this as a Raptors fan.

I just don't see anyone but Irving and Jones going top 2. You can argue the order if you want, but those are clearly the top 2 prospects IMO.

I think Cleveland is the only team that would take Valanciunas first overall. That's why I have Valanciunas where he's at. Personally, I think he's the best prospect. He's producing in limited time against pros, some of which could play in the NBA. But that's an entirely different issue altogether.

I still believe most teams will take Sullinger over Irving or Jones. He's just a safer pick at this point and time. Irving showed potential early in the season. However, that's not enough to warrant the first pick overall. Jones is a wait-and-see player.

I thought your picks were supposed to be based on team needs? If so, this is a brutally terrible pick. Two fat, slow, defensively deficient 6'9" Power Forwards is not a recipe for success in the NBA. Irving would be the pick here. He's easily the better pick based on need (especially with the Rubio situation still in limbo), and he's definitely the BPA over Sullinger.

Love can play and has played center. A Love and Sullinger frontcourt could very well happen.

Irving does make sense. However, I think Sullinger is more coveted.

He can but shouldn't. Especially not next to someone who can't cover his deficiencies (short, not very long, not very quick, poor on D).

A Love and Sullinger frontcourt could very well happen.

A Love/Sullinger frontcourt would be a lot like the Love/Jefferson frontcourt except smaller, slower, and maybe even worse on D.

Irving does make sense. However, I think Sullinger is more coveted.

I'm sure lots of scouts and executives like Sullinger quite a bit, but I'd be shocked to hear any say that they like him more than Irving (or even Perry Jones).

If Kahn was willing to have an undersized, underathletic frontcourt I think Al Jefferson would still be in Minnesota.

I'm still under the impression that Minnesota wants Rubio. If Minnesota takes Irving, Rubio isn't coming over. Since that's the case, I would disregard the first mock I've made.

Now, the dilemma comes down to Sullinger and Jones. Again, I think most teams will take Sullinger over Jones. He's more NBA ready. But then again, Minnesota might want someone athletic to complement Rubio.

Edit: I'll switch Sullinger and Jones.

I think if Irving is available Minnesota will take him. That is unless Kahn gets a guarantee from Rubio himself that he is coming over to play. If Rubio is a ? then Wolves take Irving possibly trade Rubio for another pick. If Rubio tells Kahn he's playing then we could trade down for a team looking for a PG.

Radical change to draft from last one

1. Cleveland Cavaliers - C Jonas Valanciunas - Lietuvos Rytas
- As long as Cleveland occupies the top spot, Valanciunas is my first pick.

2. Minnesota T'Wolves - PF Derrick Williams - Arizona
- He's playing too well right now, albeit he's playing in a weak conference.

3. Sacramento Kings - PG Kyrie Irving - Duke
- Concerns with Evans could lead to Irving to Sacramento.

4. Washington Wizards - PF Jared Sullinger - Ohio State
- I still consider Sullinger a top 3 pick. However, given the needs of other teams, he might slip to 4-5.

5. Toronto Raptors - PF Perry Jones - Baylor
- Baylor's potential exclusion from the NCAA tournament could do more harm than good for Jones. He could slip even further in the draft.

6. Utah Jazz - G Jimmer Fredette - Brigham Young
- Given Utah's track record, Fredette seems like the obvious choice. It doesn't hurt that he's a local talent either (more Jazz fans).

7. Cleveland Cavaliers - F Terrence Jones - Kentucky
- Jamison might be on the way out after this season. Jones becomes a necessity for Cleveland.

8. Detroit Pistons - F Jan Vesely - Partizan
- I did not have Vesely rank this high two weeks ago. However, scouts seem to be infatuated with him given recent reports. Nonetheless, he's step his game up tremendously as of late. He would be a nice replacement to Prince who Vesely mirrors as a player.

9. Milwaukee Bucks - SG Alec Burks - Colorado
- This team is in need of scoring. Until they get help in this department, they will suffer. Burks makes a lot of sense for them.

10. Charlotte Bobcats - SG/SF Harrison Barnes - North Carolina
- This is a tough choice as either Henson or Barnes could be taken. But with the recent G. Wallace trade, I feel compelled to go with Barnes.

11. Golden State Warriors - SF Jordan Hamilton - Texas
- Nothing has really changed much. Hamilton would be an ideal fit for this run and gun offense.

12. Indiana Pacers - G Kemba Walker - Connecticut
- He's the obvious choice with Fredette and Burks off the board.

13. Houston Rockets - PF/C JaJuan Johnson - Purdue
- Thabeet is not a mainstay if I'm not mistaken. Therefore, I see Houston taking a big man. The hybrid Johnson is a nice fit.

14. Philadelphia 76ers - PF John Henson - North Carolina
- I don't see Brand as a long term solution at PF, even though he's playing well right now. So I would expect Philly to draft another big man. Henson, at this point, is too good to pass up.

15. Phoenix Suns - F Kawhi Leonard - San Diego State

16. New York Knicks - C Enes Kanter - Kentucky

17. Utah Jazz - PF/C Donatas Motiejunas - Bennetton Basket

18. Memphis Grizzlies - PF Marcus Morris - Kansas

19. Portland Trailblazers - PF/C Keith Benson - Oakland

20. Denver Nuggets - C Lucas Nogueira - Estudiantes

21. Charlotte Bobcats - PF Tristan Thompson - Texas

22. Washington Wizards - SG/SF Bojan Bogdanovic - Cibona

23. Oklahoma City Thunder - F Augusto Lima - Unicaja

24. Phoenix Suns - G Nolan Smith - Duke

25. New Jersey Nets - PF Markieff Morris - Kansas

26. Chicago Bulls - G Brandon Knight - Kentucky

27. Dallas Mavericks - SF Jeff Taylor - Vanderbilt

28. Chicago Bulls - PF Trey Thompkins - Georgia

29. Boston Celtics - SG/SF Klay Thompson - Washington State

30. San Antonio Spurs - F Nikola Mirotic - Real Madrid

JaJuan Johnson over Kanter? Not a chance that happens.

Return to Mock Drafts
