Kulemin

Post#1 » by Griff83 » Tue Feb 5, 2008 6:44 pm

Im starting to think this guy is being majorrly underrated and even I was one of the people who had underrated him to start from about last offseason but Ive been able to see more of him and he looks legit. He was his leagues MVP last season the same league he played with Malkin in before he came over and Ovechkin also played in that league. now I dont think he'll become a Malkin/Ovechkin level player but I do think he could potentially give you 50pts in his first season. Patrick Kane was said to be a ways from being a impact player and hes been one in his first season. I could handle a first line next season of -

Kulemin Sundin Bruunstrom

Yes two very young players playing with the captain but if Mats stays around he has to understand this is what its going to be like where the young players on this team are going to see top 6 minutes (Kulemin, Steen, Tlusty).

Don't even get me started on Kulemin. I've been hyping him up on here for a long time. After seeing extensive clips, watching him in games...I'm beyond excited about the possibility of him coming over. I've read articles involving interviews with him, and he's definitely got a nasty side to him.

Good call cuz I cannot remember how many were calling him a second rate prospect. All of a sudden .... ? Who the H are these guys getting paid by?

I think he will be a impact player along the lines similar to a Jeff Carter, Dustin Penner, Nathan Horton Alex Radulov types.

wow I didn't even know we had this guy. Glad I read this thread. I feel slightly better about our brutal lack of young talent

exactly how good a prospect is he?

like, if he went in the upcoming draft, what spot would he probably go?

top 5?

Well I think he'll be as good of a pro as Filatov, and Filatov is prolly going to be a top 5 pick.

this is awesome. For me, it's like we just got a top draft pick lol

we still need a young 'star' type player, but I feel a lot better right now.

just thinking in terms of this years draft, its' like we have;

top 5 pick if we keep losing
top 5 pick in kuminen
top 5 from sundin or kaberle
top 10 in tlusty
top 10 in strallman

thats not half bad

and we still have steen and wellwood and antropov. And if coliacovo ever stays healthy he could be a good defenceman

maybe things aren't looking so bad afterall

I dont think youd get a top 5 pick for Mats. almost positive of it.

I'll post a couple videos of Kulemin. I highly suggest watching them.

This one is a mix of goals:

This is a bit of everything, including international competition. At around the 12 second or so mark, you'll see him score a beauty against the U.S.

Look at this hit:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=kJDaFaIwXGA&feature=related

Check out this 30 second shift. He goes one on one and creates a scoring chance. Rather than giving up on the play after missing, he circles back into the zone, and picks up the puck in the corner. He collects the puck and absolutely dominates both players trying to hit him. He cycles the puck back behind the net, skates to the net and creates another scoring chance. He then finishes it off by drilling a player into the corner. He didn't score, but excuse me while I wipe the drool away.

The way he plays reminds me of Eric Cole.

some of those hits were sweet. Like how he just casually takes the puck away too after crushing someone lol

how big is he? don't care that much but it'd be nice if he was big too

looks like a good-to-great skater anyways

wonder if he's a pure scorer, like the tunnel vision type like kovalchuk, or if he's a playmaker too

You can see he has a real nose for where to put the puck and understands how to bear down to get it there. The thing that will stand him in good stead in the pros is that he is not easy to move off his feet.

Who writes for them? Those guys do a lot of internet stuff. Hockey is an after thought I think.

I have to question Hockey's Future sometimes, especially their rankings. When I looked at Kulemin's profile, I couldn't help but notice the following:

1. Third line checker? Let's be serious.
2. Anton Stralman is ranked 5th on our prospect list?
3. Chris DiDomenico is ranked 20th on our prospect list, the same guy that leads the QMJHL in scoring with 77 points.

Those rankings have not been updated since October, 25th 2007.

It's unbelieveable how exciting it is to know that Kulemin is coming over next season. I can't wait.
