I'm not convinced Fredette is gonna be successful in the league, but Matt Maloney was never close to his level.

Matt Maloney played several years in the NBA. Not a bad player. Athleticism is very important for guards. Morrison couldn't play in nba because of athleticism. I know a guy like Jared Jordan from Marist was a terrific skill guy. Not athletic enough to stick.

As far as jimmer, he needs to become a role player. Look what korver and red dick have become. He isn't the caliber of player as Ben Gordon, and Gordon is hardly a star.

Walker otoh, looks to me like an nba starter/ devastating 6th man. The scoring PG is in style in the NBA, and walker has legit PG skills.

I remember what an NBA scout told me once when I saw him at a local, college game, he was looking at a guy who was a good scorer. He said, everyone can score in college. What else can they do?

What else can jimmer do but shoot. Defense is underrated here people. Unless he is a 25ppg scorer in NBA , his D will keep him off the floor.

Here's a decent article on Matt Maloney for those who were too young to witness how he entered the NBA http://www.upenn.edu/gazette/0297/hoops.html

Jimmer is clearly the better college player, but Maloney made vast improvements between college and his first NBA game. Ultimately Jimmer would surprise me if he starts as many NBA games as Matt. That would be 206 regular season NBA starts. Does anyone here believe Jimmer will ever see 206 NBA starts?

It's way too early to tell- we have to see how he does in his head-to-heads and workouts with NBA teams. Then, we need to find out what team drafts him. Those are huge factors weighing against making that prediction right now.

Like many articles have said, there aren't that many NBA teams that fit with his style of play. On the other hand, if he is paired with Lebron, he may see a fair amount of starts etc.

Im still waiting for a white player other then JJ Redick to do anything in the NBA. hopefully fredette can be good instead of just being another white bust.

I think Fredette could be extremely valuable to an NBA franchise. How valuable was Steve Kerr? Freddette can be a scorer off the bench and an outside shooter on a playoff caliber team that has other very good pieces around him. I just Don't see Jimmer ever being one of the 4 best players on a championship caliber team.

That being said, I am a Wizards fan and would be perfectly happy if we were able to grab another pick drafted him in the middle of the first. At least you know that Jimmer is great at one thing, that he has a talent that will translate to the NBA. The mid to late first round is such a crapshoot, that many times you get nothing out of those guys.

I'm pretty sure Jimmer could be a factor in the NBA if he were around in Shaq's prime.

Its been a while since the NBA has had a Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Troy Murphy, Kevin Love, Peja Stoakovic, Nick Collison, Andrei Kirilenko, Memo Okor, Mike Dunleavy, Danilo Gallinari, Andrea Bargnani, Pau Gasol, JJ Redick Louis Scola or a Nenad Krstic.

You mean besides the first round draft pick he played against last night?

These are the NBA prospects he has played this season... the MWC is ranked 4th right now and the computer has BYU at #1 because of their schedule.

Whatever happened to those guys.

I can see the Stephon Curry comparisons by some. Does he have the passing ability of a Steve Nash down the road?

Maloney was in a truly ideal situation. He would NOT be a starter in todays NBA. That Rockets team had literally NO pgs.. they drafted livingston to help in the area.. but the knee was just too gimpy.
Maloney was decent for what he was.. but Fredette.. is better.. Maloney played in an era where John Crotty played regular minutes and Darrick Martin was a starter. NBA was in a transition period..similar to now, but even less talent spread.

Jimmer FreREAL is a likely late lotto to mid-late first round pick. He's may not be a starter in the NBA, but he'll be a 6th man of the year candidate year in and year out.

What about a Jason Terry comparison? Someone like him?

I am glad he is white and I hope he does drop in the draft because of that...... so the Hawks can draft him.

I believe that Jimmer is just an overly mature college player that is dominating an NCAA that's weaker than it has ever been (Kemba Walker and Evan Turner are also in that same boat). So when I compare him to current or former NBA players, I believe that I am giving him too much credit. I actually believe Fredette is another Ben Woodside who will not have an NBA career, or not much of one outside of sitting the bench and performing mop up duty.

I want to maintain a list of guys he compares to favorably:

1.Sarunas Jasikevicius
2. Matt Maloney
3. Tim Legler

I'm not saying that Jimmer will be as good of a professional basketball player as those guys. I think his career will mirror that of Ben Woodside.

Your posts come across as idiotic, plus racist. Why did you only mention white players in this thread, do you only see a players skin color?

What is with all of the blatant racists in this thread? :banghead: :nonono: :wavefinger:

A list of good "white" players, better than JJ Redick for those morons hung up on skin color:

Nowitzki
Bargnani
Bogut
Nash
Scola
Hinrich
Kaman
Gasol
Lopez
Gallinari
Dunleavy
Kirilenko

Not a bad comparison, but I think Jimmer has slightly better pg skills than Terry; slightly.

I would be happy with either either one of these guys to play backup guard for the Bulls. I don't see either of them going earlier then mid first round.

A Jason Terry comparison will not work. Terry entered the NBA as one of the fastest players in the entire league. Jimmer's ceiling is probably Juan Carlos Navarro. Let's add him to the list

1.Sarunas Jasikevicius
2. Matt Maloney
3. Tim Legler
4. Juan Carlos Navarro
