I hope it means we get a trade soon as well...and you never know.

A sore calf is an injury players have played through. I'm not saying it is easy to play through but NBA players have played through this injury before.

stuporman wrote:The win against the Heat, in my opinion, was an awesome thing to happen for the Knicks in the Melo-drama and I'll explain why.

Yes, the Heat have been struggling lately with some injuries and were missing Bosh even in this game but it still had something that could be learned from. When the Heat were healthy and hitting on all cylinders they were too much for the Knicks for 48 minutes. Too much for the whole league, in fact.

With the 3 divas missing Bosh the game showed that the two teams were closer to even with what the Knicks have now. You would think the Knicks would have to be perfect to beat a team with 2 of the leagues top 5 players and yet the Knicks weren't perfect at all but still prevailed against the Heat.

Melo can do the talent math as he watched this game. He knows if the Knicks can add him while not losing much talent they can compete even with a healthy Heat team. Obviously one game won't make his decision for him but it is just another thing to consider in the biggest decision of his life.

We know he's doing the talent math with every option around him because he's stated that winning is most important to him. More important than money. So while everyone else is doing the salary money math and speculating, he's doing the talent math.

Interesting take, stuporman. Not sure about what Carmelo is thinking, but it certainly makes me wonder just how good we could be.

The soonest a trade will happen is a couple days before deadline. Sit tight for another 20 or so days

He said MDA isn't having giving up more than 2 of those 3... SAS himself said he would give 2 of them up in a heartbeat for Melo, as would Kay and most people, and according to that trade proposal from the Knicks which was supposedly rejected - so would Donnie...

SAS and Barkley have both expressed that Melo is the most talented offensive player in the game right now....when you step back from the situation, maybe ask a non-Knick fan, most everyone would laugh at the idea of not wanting to give up even 2 of those 3 for Melo... a lot of people would give all 3.... yeah we have leverage so it changes it a bit.... but Melo is Melo, i don't care what the situation is.

I do think at this point it's more between Gallo and Fields for who wouldn't be included in a trade... Chandler seems more like the sure thing than he ever did if a deal goes down, despite Donnies words the other week.... he probably understands that to (reason for bad play?).. And as much as Fields is a fan-favorite and a real surprisingly great player, I think Donnie/MDA still probably like Gallo if they had to pick one to keep.

SAS is amazing

1) lbj never wanted the NY stage (Doesnt want stage like kobe, etc)
2) owners will get what they want CBA, players have no leverage
3) its NOT NY or bust b/c its the nba, and its money first
4) dantoni doesnt want to give up the players for Melo

SAS needs to be back on espn, he has great stuff

No it changes allot.
If we're trying to win a championship we need to come out of this with as much as we possibly can. Melo/Amar'e/Felton and whatever we can piece together without assets or cap space is not going to get it done. So why should we commit to that plan? We need to try and get Melo while keeping our young talent. Chandler/Gallo/Chandler might not be what we need but what if we could trade them for that missing piece? Let this play out.

My deal right now would be Gallo or Wilson + AR, a future 1st rounder and Curry. That’s it. If they don’t like it we’ll roll the dice on signing Melo in the summer.

Latest from Isola

Not everything Barkley said about the Knicks was bad. He predicted that Carmelo Anthony will likely end up in New York - on one condition.

"You'll know in the next two to three weeks," Barkley said. "If he don't get traded by trading deadline (Feb. 24), he's probably going to come here next year (as a free agent). I think he'll come here as a free agent."

Barkley was also impressed with how the Knicks have energized the city.

"It's always fun to come to Madison Square Garden and you want to see the Knicks do better, 'cause it's good for the league," he added. "New York's always an exciting place. Amar'e (Stoudemire) has had a terrific season. I think the thing that's going to be interesting is trying to figure out the Carmelo Anthony thing. That's going to be the key."
