Chris Broussard says Melo's people think Clips are good fit

Go to the 4:30 mark.

Griffin
Melo
Jordan
Gordon
Davis

I've been saying LAC is the best fit for Melo in the immediate and long term. To play alongside 2 young studs in BG/EJ should be enticing. Some Knicks fans seem to think it's a impossibility because well, "it's the Clippers and Sterling will screw it up". But come on, if Sterling is really all about money, this is the wisest business decision anyone can and would make. Aside from that, acquiring Melo would show a serious commitment to winning and that would only enhance the chances of Blake and Eric staying.

Of course, all of this means nothing if Melo's heart is set on NY.

Denver can't say NO

Post#2 » by Benzo36 » Tue Jan 25, 2011 11:33 pm

Trade Kaman(Est.), Aminu(Fut.), Gomes, exp. Butler & Smith (5mil)plus Minny 1st for Melo(SupaStar), Harrington and R. Balkman(worth those 2). Al replaces Gomes/CSmith w/higher production. Baron/EB-EG/Foye-Melo/Al/Balk-Griff/AlH, DJ/Collins. Summer we can get Dalembert, Hawes or J Foster.

Yeah but it's Chris Broussard. I know he hit it out of the park with Lebron, Wade and Bosh to Miami, but the guy just isn't that reliable. I MUCH prefer Marc Smith, Adrian Woj., etc. Let's wait and see.

I asked a few people in Denver, and they like our package, but I think they also really want cap relief. Besides that, the most important thing is where Melo wants to go.

His people want to make the most of the situation. The Clips have made inquiries before so there is interest on our part. I don't know where the team stands on DJ, but have made Griffin and Gordon off-limits. Ultimately it comes down to Melo's preference. I think that he only has eyes for New York, but we'll have to wait and see as the trade deadline approaches.

It isn't like Broussard is predicting anything or reporting any behind doors information, it seems he spoke to some in Melo's circle and that's it, nothing very confidential. I see no reason to dismiss this report as false.

yea if he doesnt want to stay long term there no need give up a role player. And i think denever will hold on to him this season they are playing winning basketball. Only way i see him leaving and staying if its ny or a title contender.

Im not sure how I feel about Melo on the Clippers. Gordon and Melo need the ball to be effective so thats something to think about.

Also, it might be in the best interests of the future of the franchise to let Blake and Gordon lead the way, move Kaman when the time is right, use the TWolves pick to add another high quality draft pick, and keep our payroll low so we can extend Gordon and Griffin.

I dont think Melo will sign an extension with us anyway, but I like what im seeing so far. I really dont think we need to make a move for Melo.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

Gordon only needs the ball in his hands when our offense needs a spark and/or he's with the second unit. Gordon moves off the ball pretty well, so I don't think that would be an issue.

A trade for Melo while keeping Blake, EJ, DJ and Bledsoe would be amazing.

People thought I was crazy but I wanted LeBron to go to the Clipps. That would have been incredible. I think they would be a better fit for LeBron than Miami.
much respect to the 2011-2012 champions, Miami Heat, well deserved

Now that Baron has decided to be a real life basketball player Gordon doesnt need to ball as much. However, its pretty clear Gordon excels with the ball in his hands, especially late in games.

We all hoped for that too lol. Part of me wanted to see him stick it out with Cleveland. A big part of me wanted him here, but knew it was a long shot. Then there were some teams that I was really hoping he wouldn't end up on. I think that the 3 of them already had that planned, but I can only wonder if things would have turned out somewhat differently had Blake not been hurt last season. I think he could have been a great mutual fit here, but Gordon hadn't taken the leap yet and noone expected Blake to be at this level this soon.

Melo + Chauncey for Kaman, Baron, and the minny pick. If melo was willing to sign an extended contract I'd do it in a second. I think we might even be able to make the playoffs this year if that trade was made.

I think that we would have a chance to get to the playoffs if we did that trade. I'm not sure Denver would really want to do it though. I'm not sure how much Chauncey has left, he's getting up there. And I'm still curious if Melo would even sign an extension with us.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!
