Marcus Eriksson - 78/81 threes..

Post#1 » by WhateverBro » Thu Jan 27, 2011 8:18 pm

..in 5 minutes. I was already blown away by this kid and he's just getting better. He's born in december 1993 and is signed to a spanish top league team called Manresa. Draftexpress has a profile up on him but it hasn't been updated. Anyway, he's a top european prospect and the other day he won the euroleague MVP for the under-18 competitions.

Here's the video of him hitting 78/81 threes in a sweater and pants! There is no doubt in my mind that he's coming to the NBA.

I'm not trying to be a wise guy, but there's guys at my church that can do this, honestly. He's shooting stand still, uncontested jumpshots from the top of the key. This is no big deal, at all. I'm not saying that he won't become something some day, maybe he will, but this video shows me nothing other than a nice shooting stroke.

The guy can play granted I haven't seen him doing much of anything besides spot up shooting

I understand that you aren't convinced by the clip I posted, which you shouldn't. But trust me, I've seen this guy play and he's so skilled it's crazy. He ALWAYS shoots like this, check his scouting reports. He's been tearing it up in European champions for U-18 etc, and shooting the lights out every tournament. He's also an ok defender with a very high basketball IQ. It's no wonder he shoots like this, both his father and uncle played professional basketball. His uncle made over 700 threes during his career on over 40% shooting IIRC. So yes, it's no surprise he's a sharp shooter.

Here's a vid from his trials with Manresa and a game for the swedish U-18 team.

I saw him at Hospitalet. He's showing some nice progress in his game, attacking off the dribble more, hitting some tough floaters in the lane, active on the boards. Not the one-dimensional shooter he was in the U18 EC last year, even though the outside shot is clearly his bread and butter.

Still too early to predict much. But the way he's progressed during these months is encouraging.

Is the black guy the brother of Serge Ibaka?
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

Nope, that's another young african player, Joann Kody. Extremely raw player. Fairly long and athletic, but not a basketball player yet.

Ibaka's brother is like 6'6'' with the skill-set of a PF/C. He's crazily athletic, but considering his height and current talents, it's hard to see him ever becoming a high-level talent, even in Europe.
