The 'still winless on the road' Thread

So we are 0-10 as I type this. Which is a quarter of the ways away for 0-41... and with the way the Wizards are playing... why not?

It's all about perfection and consistency. We'll see if the Wiz can keep it up.

I wouldn't be too upset if at least most of the games were close. However, most of the away games have been blow-outs. That is a sign of a pretty bad team.

We're striving to go 0-41, so that the NBA will have mercy on us and let us play all our games at home.

The only thing that will have mercy on us is a lockout.

Our defence in particular is just embarrassing on the road. They just play with no intensity or urgency on that end, and they get hammered on the boards routinely.

The players aren't great but I'm not really sure what Flip has been teaching these guys. Obviously something is not going through because we can't defend the paint, we can't defend the three point line, we can't defend ****.

We need a guy like Scott Skiles to come in here and emphasize defense. There's no reason Milwaukee can transform into a good defensive team with basically the same roster and the Wizards can't.

The record is 29.

Monday they go to Dallas for what should be a loss.
Tuesday they go to New Orleans for another likely loss. That could be 0-25.

Then they go almost two weeks before going to Cleveland, a team on an even more impressive losing streak. The Cavs have lost 19 straight and 29 of 30. The NBA record for consecutive losses is 23. Their next two are at Orlando and at Miami.

I hate to pull for two more road losses, but if it comes to this game I gotta see this one.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

I doubt it, even WNBA teams would be favored by double digits against the Cav's in Cleveland.

Sorry, but until Wall gives better effort defending and gets a clue, it's not going to look any better then when they had Gil at PG. Gil D with no Gil range or Gil drive is not a winning formula for a team. And I have notice recently that he is losing him dribble way to often and for not other reason then he is picking it up.

Example of terrible D. And sadly, this was in OT with the time still in the balance.
I saw this play against OKC in overtime that really concerned me. Westbrook had the ball on the right top of the key. Wall was to the left of the screen man so he was facing WB and in good position. He walked his way just north of the screen, I guess so he could follow him if he dribbled to the right. Then WB started a move to the hoop ( for the 1000th time ) and instead of following him to the hoop, for some odd reason, Wall actually decided to try to run to the lane side away from WB instead of staying with him. It made zero sense why he did this. He was right in front of WB in good position and actually ran away from him and set the pick against himself. It was the craziest most clueless thing I had seen in a while. Well, with Wall running away and self picking himself, WB went right to the hoop and Wall wasn't even with in 10 ft of him. Result was an easy uncontested layup.

There was no post defender because that player had actually come up to help protect the lane side where Wall decided to run. So he not only ran away from WB and his straight line to the basket, but he ran himself into his own teammate.

Now Kirk came back last game and you could see with out any effort what a PG defending looks like. Mostly, Kirk just stay on his man. He fight over the top of most picks. It's mostly effort and he give a ton of it. I was so night and day. Even Mutafa who doesn't know the scheme give way better effort.

I have no idea what the future holds, but as of right now, Walls defense is down right scary. And if it was just making mental mistakes here and there, I would be ok. But it is also effort. And it isn't small mental mistakes, it total brain FARTS. Gil defensive effort with McGee cluelessness.

I'm not saying Wall is a bust but there are things that concern me.

Don't we play Cleveland 2 more times on the road? If so, I know we will get one of them, but just not so sure which one.
