Or do you mean by having Tim Duncan stay in San Antonio so we successfully sign Grant Hill and Tracy McGrady and also draft ROY Mike Miller?
Or do you mean Grant Hill being injured for most of his time here as me "seriously making things up"?
Tryin to figure it out cause if you don't think that's being setup to succeed but a guy choosing to stay w/ his team, a guy who became a SUPERSTAR, and a SUPERSTAR on the verge of MEGASTARdom but just not being able to get over an injury as being unsuccessful then you're wrong.
The execution of the plan was flawless.
You herbs trying to point out the fact that we were "capped out" is ridiculous.
Of course you're capped out when you sign 2 guys who 1 was worth every penny and the other was projected to be worth MORE than the contract he was signed to but injury ruined that.
But let you tell it and being capped out because of Rashard Lewis isn't a mistake and a better job than Gabe...and speaking of which who do you think was the guy who made it possible to have the cap room to sign Lewis?
Weisbrod and I'm sure he wouldn't have maxxed that dude out like Otis.
Stan needs to use his players better.
You said Gabriel "always" had us in a position to go after a top FA. That was false, it happened once, and once alone. After that, the money was spent and we were not in that position again until 2007.
Neither Weisbrod nor Gabriel had us "set up to win". Not even close, as the 43 win best season indicates. You can try and play off the Hill injury as a bad luck, but it was only bad luck on Grant's part, it was horrific research and judgement on the part of the Orlando Magic.
And I'll tell you, he may not have been close to worth a max deal, and it may well have been a mistake, but the Rashard Lewis signing was a much better one than Grant Hill. Grossly overpaying a guy who became a vital cog in a team that went to the Finals is a superior move to giving a max deal to a guy without properly checking out the extent of his injuries and having him spend the majority of his seven years in Orlando on the bench.
Keep running in circles and a throwing stuff out there, maybe you'll get something right. Even a stopped clock is correct twice a day (although knowing you, you'll use a 24hour clock and only manage to be correct once).
