In my opinion that should be Detroit who are all about nothing but cap space.

Send them Curry, Azuibuke & Mason (ALL EXPIRING DEALS) plus our 2nd round pick for the 2011 Draft.

Detroit sends Denver Rip Hamilton, NY sends Denver Randolph and Chandler (sad to say) plus a 2014 1st round pick. Denver can look at Randolph for the rest of this year or possibly move him to a team with a 1st round pick as Donnie claims he can. But they'd get to take a look at him first.

NY gets Maxiell, Melo & Melvin Ely....damn near perfect as everyone gets a what they want.

In closing, Detroit, Denver & New York can and should do business.

Curry, Azuibuke & Mason to Detroit
Rip, Chandler & Randolph to Denver
Melo, Maxiell & Ely to New York

1. Detroit makes off like bandits in this trade.
2. The Jason Maxiell you probably thought you knew was eaten by a big fat slob, so the Knicks say no.
3. Why would Denver want an aging Rip once Melo is gone and they are out of contention?

Carmelo Anthony: Blame Nets, Not Me For Trade Falling Apart

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/21 ... ling_Apart

"I really don't know what is their mind-set. I really don't know if they can come back, if they're willing to come back and say, 'Let's have a meeting,' or they're still interested," Anthony said Saturday. "Everything has died down."

Asked if he was saying that the Nets were still an option, Anthony said, "No. What I'm saying is they said they're out of this whole Melo-Drama." Anthony also hinted that winning isn't the only factor in his decision on signing a contract extension.

"My decision on whether to stay or whether to leave is based on a lot of things," he said. "A lot of things come into consideration. That's my own things and thoughts that go through my head and things that I talk about with the team, with the front office, with my team. That's stuff that I pretty much keep in house with my rhyme and reason and the method to all the madness."

1) That is why I TRY to enlist Detroit in this deal. Maybe they'd even provide a 1st rd pick this year to Denver considering this year's draft looks to be weak and they'd be saving a ton of money capwise and as they try to prepare for an eventual sale.
2) Maxiell has been eaten by a fat slob, but his game can be resurrected quicker than say a guy like Eddy Curry's. I'd take that gamble!
3) Denver is not out of contention and Rip still has some game left in him, Chandler is an asset and Randolph would be a very valuable trade chip or addition to what is becoming an aging frontcourt.

4) It's a deal you try to push forward for a chance to get Melo if you are The Knicks!

I've just been waiting for the day this whole Melo thing resolves itself and we can move on from this whole process... first LB now Melo.... Then I thought... wow it won't ever end. Whether the Knicks get Melo or not the team has become a hot spot for players again and this type of media frenzy will continue again and again.

Players will want to be in NY, on the biggest stage and play for the Knicks now that they are good again. The players will eventually become FAs in many cases, the media will go off like they typically do speculating and babbling thier 'source' driven drivel. Fans will fill thread after thread and call in time after time to shows to talk about it.

It won't end. It will be something we will have to deal with now as fans of one of the more popular destinations for players along with the most veracious media driven market. It's not going away. The engines are already warming up on the next batch of FAs for 2012.

the problems with setting our sights to 2012 are that gallo and randolph have qo's, and felton and landry will be a free agents.

unless we plan on trading all those guys for future picks, while forgetting about melo this up coming season, its not gonna happen. it would be smart to do so, but i just don't see it going that way.

with Howard and Stat we'd be alot closer to a championship then with melo though.

What does the realistic probability of something actually happening and the media hype, fan frenzy that happens constantly have to do with each other? Reality never stopped a good hype-frenzy from taking place anytime anyway....

A little bit of speculated information minus a lot of actual information = non stop blabbering about things that have no chance of ever happening.....

Agreed.

I can already see it right now....Kyrie Irving to NY in 2017?

I think Melo is driving himself crazy right now. The comment, blame the Nets not me for the deal falling apart kind of says a lot that IF the Knicks wait too long they are going to lose him to NJ.

He doesn't want to get booed in Newark so he made those comments. I'm sure the reason he made the Allstar game to begin with is because all of the NY/NJ/Chicago fans that thought he get traded to their team by now.
