Can we win 70 games?

Post#1 » by Nolan » Sat Jan 22, 2011 5:46 pm

There's been quite a bit of talk about this lately. we're 37-6 right now and if we keep up our current pace we should be winning 70 games. The question is can we keep up that pace? The only thing I can see stoping us from doing it is the rodeo road trip, that usually kicks our ass every year.

What do you guys think? Is 70 wins possible for this team?

Nope. 12 of our next 13 games are on the road, and I know we've been playing well but it wouldn't shock me at all to come out of that stretch with 10+ losses. I'd love to be proven wrong on that but I just don't see it happening.

Nope, we can't win back to backs. Make that 37-7.

Thank God the playoffs don't have back to backs.

I doubt it unless whoever the second seed is within a game for the best record. I'm sure that if we have a comfortable lead record-wise nearing the end of season, we'll start throwing games off (resting guys) to avoid injury before the playoff begin. We'd have to be more dominant than the first half of the season to survive those end of season losses.

Plus, I think we have to see how this next month goes on. Bunch of road games.

40-7

35 games missing.
To be a 65 win team we have to lose 10 of 35 games..
WOW!

Will be very funny if only one Spurs player goes to the ASG.. Though i think Duncan will make it too..

I think it's almost a foregone conclusion that 3 will make it in (Duncan, Parker, Ginobili).

I'd rather we had no reps at the AS to be honest, and I'm pretty sure Pops and the team feels the same way. The rest would be good, though even if a Spur does make it Pop will hardly play them anyway. I personally don't think TD deserves to make it this year. His numbers aren't really cutting the mustard for all star consideration.

As for the 70 win mark, I'm not that interested in it TBH. As long as we're healthy and in good form come playoff time, I don't care what our record is. The win-loss stuff goes out the window once the playoff seedings are set, so it really doesn't mean anything. I'm sure the Mavs would trade their 67 win season for a title.
