Next 9 games

Post#1 » by Ice32 » Sun Jan 30, 2011 9:34 pm

With 9 games remaining until the All-Star break, I believe that the Wolves can win at least 5 or 6 of those. Here is what is coming up:

vs Grizzlies - should be a comfortable win
@ Raptors - could win that matchup again
vs Nuggets - we always play well against these guys
@ Hornets - tough game, but Hornets recently lost to the Kings
@ Rockets - only a 4 point loss last game
@ Pacers - coach just got fired, are 6-17 since December 11th
vs 76ers - should win that game
vs Blazers - always a good, close game
vs Clippers - another good match-up

Only the Nuggets, Hornets and Blazers are over .500.

Lately, Wes is coming into his off-the-bench-role averaging 16.3 pts over his last 4 games. Webster and Flynn are starting to show some confidence and consistency. Darko is avg 10.1 in his last 4 with 5.5 rebs. Love is avg 25 & 15 in his last 5.

I think with a few games against teams with bad records will give the Wolves some much needed confidence, and a win over Memphis and Toronto this week could really push us into a good momentum.

I don't think you can call any wins comfortable for this team. But I do love the optimism. I could see us going roughly 4-5 in those games. I don't think we are anymore likely to beat those bad teams than they are to beat us. Portland, NO, and Houston are all better teams (beatable, but better).

I'd love 6-3. That would be a great run for us.

It's a stretch of winnable games in a row. Then again we had a lot of winnable games in January but didn't collect a lot of wins.

Yeah, I recall a similar thread last month. Nice to think about but hard to really get behind. I'd be happy with 5-4, but 4-5 or 3-6 is more likely.

I've been focused like a hawk lately on turnovers. I think if we keep the to's under 18 we can win a bunch of those.

I seem to remember something like this for January...

Not making the mistake of predicting wins with this team again.

But with that said, I will go safe with... at least zero wins.

I'd be fine with going 4-5 over that stretch. All are winnable games though.

At the rate we've been winning this season, anything above 3 out of the next nine would be a "nice little stretch." There are some winnable ones in here.

I'd like to think we could beat the Raptors a second time.
We beat the Hornets earlier this year...maybe lightning can strike twice?
I don't like the way we have played Houston and Portland this year.

I want to see how we match up against Indiana and Philadelphia. I think those are two winnable games.

Interesting stat I just read:

10 of our 11 wins have been by 9 or more points.

We don't win close games. That alone turns every game with "we could beat them" teams into Losses.

You can pick apart if we should or could win all day long. Truth is, this team is so young and unpredictable it's impossible to guess how many wins we'll get in that span.

Barring a dramatic increase in quality of play.

vs Grizzlies - L
@ Raptors - L (They will get vengeance and drain 3's)
vs Nuggets - L
@ Hornets - W (The one crazy win we pull out of our butts)
@ Rockets - L (Way to scrappy for or fragile psyche)
@ Pacers - L (Granger gets a career high in 3 point shots made)
vs 76ers - W (Turner has a break out game but we get the W)
vs Blazers - L
vs Clippers - L (Foye drops 20+)
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

Hmmm. I had assumed you lost yourself in the thighs of your woman for these past few games.

Well we only won 3 in January and I predicted 6, so I'll refrain from making a prediction this time.
