The missing piece...

Post#1 » by Stephen S » Mon Jan 31, 2011 3:10 am

The Mavericks have declined to sign Sasha Pavlovic to another 10-day contract after his second pact with the team expired.

Pavlovic, who averaged 4.1 points in 10 games with the Mavericks, started six contests.

"We appreciate what he did and the guys gave him a great round of applause in the locker room, so it was a nice moment," said coach Rick Carlisle. "I'm sure he's disappointed, but I'm also sure he'll hook on with someone else or if he comes back with us, it will be for the rest of the year. The decision comes down from the top and it basically involves flexibility going forward."

Dallas owner Mark Cuban said he would have liked to sign Pavlovic to another 10-day contract, but he wasn't willing to commit for the rest of the season to a player who would probably be inactive once Peja Stojakovic and Rodrigue Beaubois get healthy.

I just heard the Fort Worth P.D. have arrested Sasha for stealing paychecks from the Mavs. I also heard the Chicago P.D. just caught Todd Collins for the same crime.

In their defense, Carmelo Anthony wasn't going to use it.

Its clear that we need someone whos been in big late game situations before, and knows how to handle them. Which is difficult to find, because mot teams want to hang onto those guys when they have them.

It is possible to also go the OKC route, and hope that someone from within might develop into that closer.
