You want to be in the sun if you're going early April. I would recomend bleacher seats for a one time visit. You definately don't want to be under the covering in the higher 200 level. Those seats are awful.

Yes. The bleacher seats are first come first served so you get there when the gates open to get the best possible seat.

Sitting in the bleachers is fun during batting practice anyways. I got 2 balls when I sat in the bleachers for my first and only time. Also you can heckle the opposing players when they are warming up in the outfield.

at what time do they open the gates? Or how early should I be there?

Pretty sure they open the gates 2 hours before first pitch. I don't know if they still have this but food is like 20% off for the first hour after gates open.
