Preffered Finals Opponent

Post#1 » by countrybama24 » Sun Jan 30, 2011 11:04 pm

Having this argument with my friend. He keeps saying the Heat, I keep saying the Celtics. What does the real gm population think?

Given the lakers have played both at home now (and tried once), what does everyone think?

Celtics. Plus, it would be funny to see the Heat not even get out of the East.

Celtics of course. Yes we lost to them today but it showed that the Celtics aren't as good as previous years which allowed Kobe to go off. Fisher and Artest played terrible and we played 3v5 out there. However, the Heat blew us out in our home court. We played the Celtics well until a melt down.

'08 Celtics were still better.

I thought it was a good sign because Kobe couldn't really go off on previous Celtic defenses. It just shows that we will be able to compete with them in the playoffs because it's more ISO oriented in the playoffs.

Only problem is the way the Lakers are playing, they will not be in the finals. OK is playing well, SA is there with the best record. They are playing like they do not want to beat the good teams and Spurs will roll pass the Lakers if they play like that again.

Regardless of who we match up better with I'd want the Celtics. There's nothing greater than beating them.

I'd take anybody at this point, because I'd be pretty seriously surprised if we got that far.

hmmm....the only threat to the lakers are themselves really....sure other teams are well equipped to grab the trophy but so are we....we can match boston's bigs with ours, and we've had alot of experience with transition plays if its miami, so we know what to do if its a game of speed.. so to answer the question of which team i prefer to face in the championship, if we make it there, id say it doesnt matter, we've been there 3 consecutive times so we know what to do...the real question is are the lakers prepared to do what they suppose to do?

if the lakers make it there... Seems like Kobe is the only one who wants it. The rest of the team needs to wake up. hopefully they turn it on in the post season.

I'm starting to like that scenario more and more, too. But the not so biased fan in me would like to a Finals with Chicago, Miami or Orlando.

Reason for Chicago; Bulls back in the Finals. Lakers and Bulls. On the road in MJ's house. So much win.

Reason for Miami: Wade vs Bryant. These two going at it would make for one epic series. But, Lebron James presence on the team is making me warm up to the idea of Miami going no where more and more.

Reason for Orlando: Rematch of the '09 Finals. Would be great to see Dwight back in the Finals, and that would make for a really fun series.

At this rate, the Lakers will only be in the Finals if you're playing 2K11.

Uhm, No I didn't.

Idk how answering a question is "falling" for anything, but I understand if there is some troll-paranoia around these parts.

Interesting, I would have thought y'all would like the matchup vs. Miami better for basketball reasons, but I understand the grudge match aspect and erring towards the known quantity that is the celts core.

Miami is too athletic. I would rather have the Celtics. Kobe can get his and our bigs will step it up. Hopefully we get Orlando tho.

if we make it to the finals, the only team in the east who has a legit shot at beating us is the celtics because they are playing with a chip on their shoulder everytime they play us, not so much the same when talking about LA unfortunately enough
