Great line from this morning's Dime Magazine Smack blog:

Garnett had to go to the locker room and came back with a bandage from the Paul Pierce Over-Dramatic Collection

Good on KG. The NBA is a sissy league today, way too PC, full of wussy floppers and goody two shoes. I'm just glad one guy is still keeping it real and not trying to impress everyone with how "classy" he is. Fake people are the worst.

If I was the ballboy, I would've offered him a towel after he hurt his head and at the last second thrown the towel the other direction and laughed at him!!

I hate this guy, truly a classless, ignorant, egotistical ass. Poor excuse for a human being!

I have got the official KG DVD and your comments are so way off-base ...
He is a loyal, funny and generous human being who still mourns the passing of his former teammate Malik Sealy ...
Do you know about the charity work he does that goes unnoticed by most of his haters ???

Also didn't Michael Jordan once punch Steve Kerr in the face at practise once for some stupid, trivial reason ???

Didn't KG punch a rookie in the face in practice because he scored on him too many times?

KG has a better chance of being the best player on an NBA champion than this kid does of getting an autograph.

The boy should have known better. In baseball bat boys are not allowed to ask for autographs. I figure it would be the same in the NBA.

Is ANYONE on the celtics likeable??? Honestly, this has to be the biggest collection of douchebags/thugs in the league.

You like them if they were on your team.

Harsh...no doubt. I didn't think Zeke was that kind of dude.

Pretty much every NBA player is.

This thread show that most realgm posters aren't autograph collectors/aren't very familiar with the backstage of the league. Players who sign on the road are the exception, not the rule. Stoudemire, Durant, Rose... off the top of my head I cant' think of many other superstars who sign to road fans.

Garnett is known for not even signing much for home fans, let alone road ones. He's one of the toughest signers in the league. It's absurd to expect him to sign for a ballboy of a road team - or, for that matter, to expect Kobe or any other Laker player to do the same for a Boston ballboy. Ballboys are generally instructed to not bother road players with requests for autographs.

Btw, ballboys are old enough to know better than this, we're not talking about a 5 or 6 years old child here.

The behaviour of most players would simply be to ignore the kid and not even answer.

Garnett gave the kid a witticism and an anecdote he can use for the rest of his life. Actually it may be more valuable than a signed ball he'd eventually sell on e-bay to spend the money in video games, drugs and booze.

CarMalone wrote:KG had no obligation to sign the autograph for the ball boy. However, there are much better ways of conveying that sentiment. He's a grown man and should know by now that choice of words makes a big difference in how people perceive things.

Well, KG scored points with me precisely because of the words he used.

Players simply ignoring or just saying "Nope" happens every day. A player coming up with a witty and funny diss is way more rare.

KG being a douchebag, hmmm what else is new?

KG is a spoiled little kid who never got his ass whooped properly when he was younger. KG belongs on that MTV show bully beatdown. Just call Anthony Peeler to take care of the job

I like Ray Allen. Total pro.

I despise KG and Pierce, but that's because they're Celtics. If they played for the Lakers I would love both of them. Even then I still respect them as great players.

Probably the only guy on the team I would dislike regardless is Nate Robinson. I can't stand anything about him -- his game, his personality, his face, anything.

Bill Russell never gave autographs either. KG is just following in the footsteps of his idol.

Have the Lakers fired this ballboy yet? Last thing I'd want is ballboys on my team schmoozing with the opponents, making them feel special.

I hate KG but don't have too much of a problem with what he said. How old was the ball boy btw? If he was 13 and up, which I'm assuming he is, I could care less I like KG embracing the rivalry.

Kobe signed an autograph for me in Boston. so did Baron Davis. but now I would NEVER, EVER ask for anyone's autograph.

seriously, what is the big deal with someone else's signature.

It happens all the time, with almost every team. I knew a kid who worked for the Spurs for a couple of years who had about 40 or 50 pairs of game-used shoes, all from opposing players. Some of them forked them over without even being asked. It's a form of tipping.

Wow I expected something totally worse

But Ray Allen is pretty much the most likeable guy on the Celtics, probably one of the most in the league too.
