Troy is a great player by no means, but this was an injured hampered season (missed what, 3 games?)

Polamalu - 17
Matthews - 15
Harrison - 8
Peppers - 6
Urlacher - 2 (whhaaaa?)
Reed - 1
Ngata - 1

Whats sad is that it wasn't even close to being Polamalu's best year.

I'm happy. More motivation for Clay to unleash on Sunday.

I kind of like it this way. Clay and the Packers D can use this as motivation and the Steelers D can't.

THis is one of the biggest post season award jokes I've ever seen. Worse than Eric Gagne's Cy Young. Wow. Talk about making it based off name and team he plays for. No more clear case than right here.

I love how everyone's reasoning for why Troy won the award is exactly the same thing: The PIT defense NEEDS Troy and are totally different with him in the lineup.

Ummmm, did anyone who voted watch what happened to our defense when Matthews didn't play?

Probably not.

Clay, focus your rage on the raper!

No kidding, we didn't have him for one quarter against Washington and that was pretty much the reason we lost the game.

Clay is winning the SportsNation poll.

Not to mention we had ZERO QB pressures in the Miami game without Clay in the lineup.

I really wish the writers had to be public with their picks - not just because of this, but because I think they need to explain their logic behind the choice. I feel that many writers don't really pay attention to the actual 'games'.

Some of you guys are really selling Polamalu short. I personally think that Clay should have gotten the award but to say that somehow it is a travesty for Polamalu to win it is absurd, the guy is an insane defender and is definitely deserving.

Don't be like Rex Ryan and be a sore loser, give the guy his dues he is a phenomenal football player and had a great season.

No doubt Polamalu is a great player, the travesty here is he missed 1/4 of the season. I'd be fine with Harrison over Clay - no issues with that. I just feel these type of awards should really go to a player that played the entire season (not to mention, this wasn't near his best year playing at 75% most games). I even had reservations for Clay to win because he missed time. JMHO

Edit - looks like he only missed 3 games, for some reason I thought I read he missed 4.

He played in 14 out of 16 games, that is hardly 1/4 of the season, and despite missing 2 games he finished 1 off the lead for interceptions with 7.

Don't get me wrong if I had a vote this year it would have gone to Clay, I think he had a better year and had more impact on the team defense but it is hardly a travesty which some people are acting as if they gave the DPOY vote to some scrub who is an awful defender.

It is the same as if Revis had won last year, I personally think Woodson had a better overall year but it would have been ludicrous to call foul if Revis had won DPOY.

I thought it was about 50/50 between those two guys.

Polamalu earned it though, he's the best defensive player I've seen in quite some time. Truly a unique and special player to have as massive of an impact as he does from the safety position.
