Trade Idea: Lakers and Bobcats?
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=4vvwewo
Artest and Shannon Brown for Gerald Wallace. Bobcats would have to waive a guy or trade for a 2nd rounder.
Why for the Lakers? Artest and Brown are both underachieving there. Artest has problems with the triangle offense, and Gerald Wallace can step in and perform at least as well as Artest has been. Also, Jackson is upset with Artest's work ethic. Wallace can always defend and will also bolster their frontcourt and rebounding for the playoffs.
Why for Charlotte? Artest is cheaper than Wallace, and Wallace isn't performing up to what he can be either. Shannon Brown could start the 2 guard spot, and could be enticed to stay in the offseason, if not we saved about 12 million over the next three years.
EDIT: This article prompted my thoughts.

artest and jax together again? save us.
from an off-court entertainment perspective this trade would be a massive win.

Artest isn't the same player. Still crazy, but not the same player. You could substitute Jax for Wallace if it really bothers you, but I'd rather keep Jax.

I can't see Stern signing off on any trade that reunites The Place Pals.

Bah. Then a three team trade that gives us someone else worth 6 million as well. Besides, I liked that team. Stern can suck a fat one!

I would do this in a heartbeat. Magnificent. We may not see much improvement, but our "street cred" would be through the roof
Seriously though - I would do this. I thought the Lakers were high on Brown though?

Re: Trade Idea: Lakers and Bobcats?
No thanks, artest sucks, and shannon brown is only getting shine because he plays next to kobe, and the defense doesn't scheme against him. Crash contract isn't t he problem, i rather trade him for youth with potential anyway, not an undersized SG, and another headcase

Jax + Artest + Oak = winning games by forfeit because opposing teams would be too scared to show up.

They are but they'd like Wallace even more.

Brown is youth + potential.

Brown is the same as henderson, with a better 3pt shot, but weaker in defense and has very low BBIQ, if the lakers were willing, i would try to get bynum

Bynum gets 13 million, and Gasol isn't a good Center for the playoffs. Maybe a Wallace+Nazr could get him though.

It's not really about the need. He's got potential, that's all you really need to know at this point. He could back up the 1 and 2, or start the 2. Either way he'd be nice to have.

Re: Trade Idea: Lakers and Bobcats?
I don't think so. But I would happily trade him further if someone thinks he has potential. I would rather have some package with a pick. Henderson is clearly better and we are stuck with Hammer anyway so we may actually play him for a while. Plus it is not liek Jax wouldn't play some two if Artest or other starting caliber SF would be sent to Charlotte for Crash.

Henderson is not "clearly better" than Shannon Brown. Shannon brown is more athletic (never thought you'd hear that did you?) and a better shooter by far, better passer, just better at offense in general. He's still a decent defender too.

Re: Trade Idea: Lakers and Bobcats?
I don't know, I think it would end up being a lateral move. At this point, I'm ready to start Henderson, move Jax to the 3, and ship out Wallace out for some picks or talented young guys that play a position of need (center, back up point).
F the playoffs. I'm sick of watching everyone stand around and watch Livingston post up as the only offensive scheme for the 2nd unit.

But a lateral move that nets us some cash, maybe even a pick. I'd be happy with it.

No offence, but this trade makes no sence at all.
1. We don't save money at all.
We take on 32,5M and give out 31,5M
Artest 6,3M in 10/11, 6,8M in 11/12, 7,2M in 12/13, 7,7M in 13/14 (ETO)
S. Brown 2,1M in 10/11, 2,4 in 11/12 (ETO)
Wallace 10,5M in 10/11, 10,5M in 11/12, 10,5M in 12/13 (ETO)
So were are we saving 12M??? Artest has a longer contract and we can't assume any of these players to opt out. I mean why should S. Brown risk his money. He's no Tyreke Evans.
2. We don't fix any shortcomings in our roster
We clearly need a big, low post C, an outside scoring presence and some help on the offence for our backups.
Artest is getting old and won't even be close to give us what Crash gives us. Wallace plays bad, but he plays better than Artest.
S. Brown played here, and he was nothing spectecular. I agree that he only looks mediocre cause he is on a championship team. He would suck here bigtime. He could give us some spark from the bench but not that much.
And he has no potencial.
3. We gain nothing for a possible rebuild
We should give up Wallace if we get either cap relief (for example AK47 or trade exeption from the Cavs) or young talents (not S. Brown but Mayo) and either way draft picks, draft picks and draft picks

Re: Trade Idea: Lakers and Bobcats?
Henderson is clearly better to have. He has potential. With Shannon Brown you have already seen he best of him. Yup he has the body, he has the range but he is a fluke. Hey even Smush Parker looked good enough as a Laker.
