OT: Carson Palmer: "Trade Me Or I'll Retire

Post#1 » by Ron1 » Mon Jan 24, 2011 3:07 am

According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, Carson Palmer has demanded a trade or will demand one, and if he doesn't get it, ESPN claims he says he'll retire.

This is so unlike Carson Palmer, you wonder what’s real and what’s posing. ESPN has reported Palmer wants to be traded and if he isn’t, will retire. How bad is it really down at PBS when the quarterback suggests that retiring is a better option than returning to play for the Bengals?

He has a horrible contract that isn't very tradable. Cinci wont want to cut him cause they owe him too much money. I would let him retire so I wouldn't have to pay his worthless ass elite qb money.

In a related story, Dan Pompeii reported that Marvin Lewis told him Ocho was definitely coming back. I'm positive that had something to do with it.
*After a conversation with Bengals coach Marvin Lewis, I came away thinking Terrell Owens won’t be a Bengal next year, but Chad Ochocinco and Cedric Benson probably will be. Lewis on Benson, whose contract is up: “I’d like to have him back and he wants to be back.” Lewis on Ocho: “I expect him to play for the Bengals because he has a contract. Mike Brown is not going to cut him.”

I'll see the Bengals staff later today and try to dig a little. My initial reaction to Carson's statement is that he's saying "Clean this place up or I'm not coming back". That starts with dumping Ocho and their OC.

Like Carson Palmer is going to turn his back on roughly $50 million dollars.

Do you think Chad Johnson is oblivious to how much everyone hates him?

Carson got his wish, or at least half of it. OC Bob Bratkowski fired yesterday. If Jeremy Bates gets the gig I bet you hear Carson publicly rescind his trade demand within minutes.

From all the pieces I have read about Palmer the last couple of weeks, most people in the media some how pinned the blame on TO and Chad for Palmer's bad season. After watching many Bengals games last season I think it's safe to say that Palmer was the weakest link from the bunch with his horrid play.

I agree. Its not like Chad or TO made him make terrible passes or miss wide open receivers.

To quote GetSeven
With Jimmy at the 2 spot this lineup (along with depth) has the potential to be the best since the Jordan/Pippen days easy.

I'd rather have someone like Vince Young or Donovan McNabb any day tbh. The Bengals could have been better (not a lot but definitely better) than they were last season if it wasn't for Palmer's consistently lackluster playing.

Beggars can't be choosers, Carson. Demanding trades are reserved for good players.
