Smoltz and Hudson should do what they are good at. We need a good game from Davies and another one from Chuck.

Man i hate Chris Woodward. He should have never traded away Nick Green. We now have a crap backup who can't play at all.

^^ We should have never traded Pena, nevermind Green. Tough loss, AJ shouldn't always try to kill the ball. Normal swing there and he maybe gets a hit and ties the game.

I see the Pena trade as being brilliant since the Braves did get one of the Royals top 10 prospects from last year (who is missing this year due to surgery) for a guy who can play defense and nothing else and was going to be sent down anyhow. The Nick Green deal was even more brilliant except for JS keeping Sosa too long last year. Since the Braves seem to view Prado as being more than a bench player, I'd love to see them give Harris some starts in the infield with Diaz playing LF while Chipper and Renteria are battling injuries. Woodward is terrrible, was terrible when he was signed for a waste of money $850,000, and will be for the rest of the year. Why the Braves didn't just forget about him and just go with someone with a similar track record in Willie Harris is beyond me.

Hell, I could have told you that. He was crappy with the mets too. No hit, no field and he can't run the bases to save his life. If you guys held on to Furcal and Giles, you'd be better off.

You think JS wanted to let them go?

Hey, maybe they weren't in the budget but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and retain players you need to retain.

Furcal he wanted to keep. For Giles I think he could have cared less. We need to bring in someone to play the if positions. Orr and Woodward can't play. We need someone to come in (a AAA or AA player), and get some starts.

Hudson pitches another gem, lowers his era to 1.77

Hope Davies can continue pitching well (based on last two starts) tomorrow.

Good night. Braves win (6 runs, Hudson dominates), Mets lose (10-1, ouch) and Brewers lose to the Phils. Even after losing those two bad games, we're first in the NL East and tied for best record in the NL. Hopefully we can take the next two going into the Boston series.

Try telling that to Time Warner after they ordered JS to slash payroll by $23 million.

I don't see it that way at all. Giles was going to cost $5 million and the Braves didn't have the money to spend. Having Giles at 2B and KJ in LF would have been really ideal. Before the season started I was advocating Prado for 2B and KJ for LF because I didn't think KJ could pick up 2B so fast, but obviously I was wrong there. For the bench, I wish the Braves could give Prado some playing time with Chipper out but they're obviously afraid of losing Pete Orr on waivers.

Tonight's game: How about Edgar Renteria? He's quietly putting up really nice numbers for the Braves this year. Everyone talks about Hudson, KJ, the bullpen, and Chipper but Renteria has been a huge part of the Braves success so far this year.

Renteria is starting the year off great like he did last year, I just hope he doesn't hit a wall after the All Star break again.
