Dalembert seems to be playing for a contract, I'd consider keeping him, but only as a backup plan, he shouldn't be considered a primary option
Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed.

Huh?!

Playing for a contract?!

If anything his numbers are well down on his career production so I am not sure playing for a contract is a great conclusion to arrive at.

The entire league knows what Dalembert is and there is his entire NBA career to prove that. What he is, is a 8 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks in 26 minutes type guy.

His production this year is 5.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.6 blocks in 20 minutes.......hardly a push for a contract numbers.

After watching the Boston game, Dally reminded me how much of a goof he is at times. Those goaltendings & the ill-advised shots can drive a lot of people crazy here.

He was an absolute beast on defense in the 1st half. The 2nd half soured his performance, because for whatever reason he getting the ball in the post which should be a no-no. But after his last two offensive performance, which obviously were flukes, you can't get too mad at the guy.

I just hope Westphal sticks to Daly/Cousins until the end of the year. I think that will be the determination as to whether or not he comes back. Our record in that stretch will be the key as well. On paper, he provides just about every need possible in a player next to Cousins, sans shooting of course, but even there, he's looked decent with that mid range jumper so maybe it could be worked on. Just like you all, I don't like him in the post as anything more than a passer. The lankiness that gives him his unique defensive abilities also makes him very awkward when handling the ball in tight situations.

I'd be worried about teams like Toronto... They have cap space to sign him, they have no other true C's so he would instantly become the starting C, He would travel to the easier eastern conference, and they have a worse record which prob translates to Irving since cavs and minni dont need a PG.

The only reason why I wouldn't be too worried about Toronto is all the $$$ they dumped on Amir Johnson. They have way more issues that Dalembert won't solve. They wouldn't be stupid enough to overpay for need like that. If they do? Welcome to a good long 'ol stand of mediocrity.

In a heart beat!!!! In fact he should be our #1 priority this off-season!

Anf for those thinking he is not worth more than MLE or there abouts....you are kidding yourself!

Take a look around the league and you will see that outside the starts, defensive big men of Dalembert's calibre are the next best on the payscale!

If we can sign Dalembert up for 8 million per season we would do it without blinking. He is one of the better FAs in the summer and he will get a lot of money from someone. Hopefully its from us because he is a perfect complement to Cousins.

Defensive bigs are the next most important ingridient to a winning team after the superstars. Thats why they are paid the huge money around the league.

Take a look at some of the contracts following players and come back and tell me with a straight face that Dalembert is not worth more than the MLE

- Marcus Camby
- Tyson Chandler
- Joakim Noah
- Anderson Varejao
- Brendan Haywood
- Andres Biendris
- Emeka Okafor
- Kendrick Perkins (an absolute bargain but was "overpriced" after he signed his current contract after putting up 5pts/6rbs per game)

Dalembert will likely take a paycut but it won't be significant. In current environment (pre new CBA) he would comfortably get at least $9 million per season.

Defensive 7 footers are at an absolute premium in this league. Always have been and always will be!

I totally agree. Defensive centers come at a premium price. Hopefully, Dalembert stays on through the rest of the season and a complete evaluation can then be made. $9M still sounds steep, but a good role model and quality rebounder / shot-blocker deserves that kind of a price tag.

I would absolutely try to resign him... for the right price. We don't know how the new CBA is going to look, and I think we need to see him play more with DMC to more accurately guage his value. I think it will take more money per year than the mid-level exception, I don't think I'd off much more. If we only offer mid level he'll bolt for a contender. No need to offer $9mil per year if we are only bidding against ourselves at that price.
