Russell Westbrook or Joe Johnson: Pick one to build a team

You have a game tomorrow. Do you take Russell Westbrook or Joe Johnson?

That was the text message last night. (This is what a business dinner with the Dime crew can turn into.) And I already know how most people will answer the question, so I’ll just get right into defending the other side.

I would take Joe Johnson. Why? Because if I don’t know yet who else is on my team for this hypothetical game, I do know that I need a primary scorer and a go-to man in the clutch. The title and the first line are almost at odds with each other. If I'm building a team I take Westbrook because of age and position. If I have a game tomorrow I want to know who else is on the team because Joe the individual player today is ahead of Russell Westbrook the individual player today, but if the supporting cast is there Westbrook is a PG which in my eyes is more valuable.

I think this is an easy question to be honest. I'd go Westbrook. But like the article says it also depends who's on your team.
