That would explain why the 76ers, Clippers, and Bobcats with their tight fisted owners were all told no immediately, while the Nets were told maybe.

 i see denial and rationalization are pulling some serious overtime over there.

Someone needs to repost that video where Carmelo almost turned Conan OBrien pale when the reporter told him he had been traded to the Nets.

I have a couple of people I wouldn't mind suggesting they do this and sacrifice them for the greater good.

I'm telling you guys there are certain risks in thinking if Melo goes into free agency he's just going to come to the NYK crawling on his hands and knees. Today's professional athlete has a very frail psyche and an enormous ego. If it is made public (whether true or untrue) that Walsh didn't want to part with a landry fields or a danilo gallinari in order to make the deal I could easily see Carmelo's ego being bruised and he and his camp becoming bitter towards the Knicks F/O and he could in spite sign elsewhere. Walsh and the F/O have to make it clear through the media that NY was willing to go to whatever lengths (again whether true or untrue) to trade for him before feb.24th. I could just see his cronies (WWW,Rose) in his ear telling him the fact they didn't want to give up this guy or that guy for you is a downright insult!!!

I'm telling you Walsh needs to make the deal (or at least show he attempted to and spin it that Denver was the party not wanting to do the deal) and not taking any chances waiting until F/A.

This type of stuff can't get out!!! (but already has)

http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entr ... 4/27352641

Always first on the docket: Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony, who now has just three weeks to be moved prior to the trade deadline. "Sources are telling me that there is some indecision within the Knicks organization, some disagreement, even, as to how hard they should push for a trade bringing Carmelo to New York," Berger reports. "Those against the move view Anthony strictly as a scorer and the Knicks have plenty of scoring. They think he would be a good option as a free agent but not if major assets have to be given up in a trade when the team has so many other pressing needs."

Unless somebody is a close relative or friend of Carmelo's no one can be 100% sure he would come to NY in the summer. No one!!!

Who cares what gets out when Melo can just call Amare and find out what the deal is?

if melo hits free agency it would be the best thing to happen for the knicks imo. this is getting ridiculous

we're the only team willing to spend 90 million to win a chip
we're the only team who can do ^^^^ and sign melo outright (ok not technically but you get the point)
we have pieces that fit melo's game AND compliment him.

he wants to win.

we got guys on the up and up.

it makes sense

he'll come

book that...

You'd be naive to think Amar'e in the middle of the season is sitting in on those internal discussions. Players are players and management is management they operate as two separate entities. Players are mislead all the time and there is always a certain level of mistrust between Players and management.

You have three different guy's we are talking about Coach, Gm and owner. Even if as you say "Amar'e can tell him what the deal is" that doesn't mean it's going to be good news.

Eh, so be it then. It's Melo's job to get himself here, not ours. Whatever happens, happens, because the ball is in his court.

I'd watch out for this Dallas thing to go down. This GM we're dealing with is an idiot.

Same conference, no assets to get back in return. (besides Roddy Buckets)

Don't hold your breath.

When did Beaubois prove to be this huge asset again?

You missed my well constructed argument from before:

I think we can beat it. But it's kind of like our trades for the last few years. We were just trading to clear out cap space. Because Dallas can send expiring contracts + take back Harrington's contract that's a big deal. Beaubois is just a backup but it allows them to trade Chauncey who would be a good pick up for someone like the Lakers. So maybe they can do a three way trade where Lakers trade Artest + Shannon Brown to a third team for an expiring contract. Then they let JR Smith expire, Kenyon Martin expire and Nene is expected to opt out. All of a sudden Denver is down to like 10 million in obligations for next year which allows them to resign guys they like i.e. Affalo and go after a free agent like Jeff Green or Wilson Chandler. If they get picks from Dallas or LA (or whoever they trade Chauncey to) then all the better.

+ you add the premium of not doing a deal with NY.

And for Dallas even if they can't resign Melo this Summer they can still extend and trade him to NY for whatever we were prepared to offer Denver i.e. Wilson + AR. Plus they'll make a serious run with Dirk + Melo and JKidd facilitating. A much better run than they could with the current set up.

If Denver clears out all that cap this Summer they could go after Wilson Chandler/Jeff Green + Gasol/Tyson Chandler
Play time is over.

Players want to be wanted, they want to be appreciated. The ball is in denver's court. Come July it'll be in Melo's court.

they're not going to sign those people man. they want to save money. read this to get a better understanding of their owner's unwillingness to spend and why melo wants out in the first place.

I think you misread what I wrote. I mean, since the Denver GM is an idiot, he thinks Dallas is the perfect trading partner.
