As bad as they have been they're only 6 points out of 8th at this point. I'm starting to get scared that they will string together some wins and squeak into 8th and screw over the draft situation.

Better to squeak into 8th than be 9th or 10th like the last two years - the draft pick is practically the same, but being 8th you get to make the playoffs. They'll lose in 4 or 5 games to a team like New Jersey, but it's the playoffs.

Best outcome, of course, is to be 15th.

They were second last in the league, with potential to be dead last. Even as a huge Leafs fan, I'd rather see them be last in the league over crawling into the playoff picture.

This is exactly what I was scared of. . . The annual push.

Another gritty win tonight. Hate to say it but the team has been playing some solid hockey lately, especially Sundin and Toskala. 8th might not be too far now. :-?

This team just can't seem to do things right. Why are we killing Toskala, who I believe is still playing a little hurt and not using Raycroft more.

Getting in in the eighth spot and being trounced does nothing for the development of this franchise.

Once again, we are in the annual push of winning games that don't matter only to ruin our draft position and not make the playoffs.

The organization needs to take a long look at itself. If you are going to buy guys out this summer, why not send them down to the Marlies now and bring up the young guys to play in the NHL. And not just play on the fourth line, play them significant minutes at crucial times.

If the Leafs really wanted to send a message, send McCabe, Tucker and Blake to the Marlies now, and play Raycroft some significant time over the last 15 games. Who knows, if he shows something you might actually be able to move him in the summer.

You just know they're going to come up short anyway, probably 9th or 10th. Unfortunate. I was looking forward to watching some actual fresh new difference makers on the Leafs. Instead we get to watch the same old tractors skating night in and night out. I can't remember the last time I saw some combination of real speed and talent on this team.

I love the Leafs. What is it about this team that it only plays hard when it is only mathematically possible to make the playoffs?

So good. Everybody is so happy too but with every win Leafs get further from rebuilding. Who knows....maybe if they miss the playoffs by 2-3 points they will think they don't have to rebuilt. Sign a couple of aging players and go for the cup run next year. :lol:
