GT: Spurs vs. Lakers

Post#1 » by Nolan » Thu Feb 3, 2011 1:08 am

When: 10:30 PM ET, February 3, 2011
Where: STAPLES Center, Los Angeles, CA

Starting Lineups:

Spurs:
PG - Tony Parker
SG - Manu Ginobli
SF - Richard Jefferson
PF - Tim Duncan
C - Dejuan Blair

Lakers:
PG - Derek Fisher
SG - Kobe Bryant
SF - Ron Artest
PF - Pau Gasol
C - Andrew Bynum

Game 2 of the rodeo road trip is going to come against another very tough opponent the Lakers. Althought they`ve been struggling lately we can`t take them lightly. This is a team with a ton of talent and the key to winning this game is going to be stopping Pau Gasol. He`s been the key to their success this season and when he plays well the Lakers rarely lose. We have to be pyhsical with him and keep him out of the paint and off the offensive glass.

Go Spurs!!

I rag on their fans a bit, but I really don't get that the Lakers have dropped off as much as others are making out. They still deserve to be favorites to come out of the west.

Our best hope is that Kobe has a shooting night like he did in our first meeting of the season and if he goes into me-first mode and isn't red hot, we're in with a shot.

Anyway, looking forward to what I hope is a WCF preview. Orl-Bos game as well, which should be a good one.

Nolan, Pau isn't playing as good as he was in the beginning of the season. I think that also explains why the Lakers are struggling (more or less) for the moment. Key will be to contain (if that's possible) Kobe Bryant. Or let him shoot and contain the others. Is Bynum playing ? I thought he injured himself the last game (knee problems ... again).

After dropping one to Portland I expect us to come out fired up. No way Parker has another off night, especially against Fisher. If they don't have Bynum we need to attack the rim. Hopefully Hill can get under Kobe's skin again too. Should be a winnable game. I'm gonna say Spurs 114 - Lakers 107.

Next!

We played a decent game and still won. Lakers are now in the 3rd seed where we want them.

They are also about to go on a 7 game road trip against some decent competition, and in the middle of the trip they have a 4 games in 5 nights stretch. This game tonight was an important game for them imo.

The Lakers schedule gets pretty brutal, but then we've still got a bunch of games on the road as well, we got the Kings on the B2B tomorrow.

But it's nice to get some separation on that #1 seed.

Great win for the guys, gotta love how Dice has been going recently. Definitely has turned back the clock this year!

The more wins we get now, the more rest we get going into the post season

Two of my favorite things happened tonight: a Spurs win and a Lakers loss. Awesome.

The Lakers finally have some competition on the WC after two seasons of facing powder puffs like the Suns and Nuggets in the WCF...those days are gone!!! If they can get past the Mavs, they got us to deal with!!!!
