"Spahn and Sain and pray for rain" is now "CC and Hughes...then we lose."

Smh. He was my favorite pitcher off all time. He'll definitely be missed. Hopefully he comes back in the middle of the season.

He will surely be missed. All-time great. He certainly gets my vote for a monument in monument park. I also don't care what anyone says, if there is a big game, I'm more comfortable with Pettitte pitching than anyone else I've ever seen pitch.

Cashman needs to pull a quality starting pitcher out of his ass. Millwood, Garcia and Prior don't count. -Jitpal

Thanks for the performance enhancers you took with Clemens...

Give Andy credit. He went through that hell and won a WS after. Truly a great homegrown Yankee who handled things as a professional.

The problem is, there are too many good young ones. And teams aren't going to let those guys go until they hit free agency.

As I said in another post, things are never as bad as they seem or as good as they seem. Guys will emerge for the Yankees. Who knows, maybe Brackman will show us a little something before he reaches age 30.

Plus, the bullpen is strong. If the Yanks are down 4-3 after 5 innings, they are the favorites to win against most teams. It won't be pretty, but a win is a win.

You don't NEED the best pitching staff. You need timely hitting to compliment good pen.

The Yanks got beat against Texas because for some ODD reason NO ONE could break the Texas pen beyond Game 1. Also the pen was DREADFUL.

So the Yanks addressed the pen issue and IF Andruw Jones still has some pop then the Yanks addressed their offensive woes when Bret Gardner has another ALCS of nothing...then they will challenge the Giants (and not the older than sand Phillies)...

I just hate these clowns who always scream, "WE GOTTA GET THE BEST PLAYER NOW! NOW! NOW! WE HAVE TO WIN NOW!"

Really?

Have people forgotten it took the Yanks nearly 15 years of losing to restock the farm, trade dead contracts, and bring in undervalued talent (YES KNICK FANS WE'VE BEEN THERE TOO BEFORE ISIAH)....

Baseball is not an exact science. It's not like NBA where one player can completely carry a team to a championship like a Jordan can. It takes a lot of components for every thing to break right ONCE let alone 5 times. Let's look at the 4 WS titles of the late 90s...

Paul O'Neill HOF? Nope

Scott Brosius HOF? Nope.

Tino Martinez HOF? Nope.

Chuck Knoblauch HOF? Nope.

Chad Curtis HOF? Nope.

Bernie Williams HOF? Nope.

Jorge Posada HOF? *pause* No because if Thurman Munson can't get in yet Fisk does...not feeling it yet.

Mariano Rivera HOF? Absolutely.

Derek Jeter HOF? Yes.

Jimmy Key HOF? No.

David Cone HOF? No.

Roger Clemens HOF? Not anymore.

Andy Pettitte HOF? Second ballot.

Andy Petite in the Hall of Fame? LOL career WHIP of 1.36 AND a PED user, hilarious how mediocre players become legends just because they put on the pinstripes

How does the bullpen need work? Our pen is probably the best in baseball with Soriano and Mo at the end. The rotation is toast after CC because as talented as Hughes is he's probably going to regress after his career high in IP.

240-138. 102 games over .500. No pitcher that's 100 games over .500 hasn't made the hall of fame. 19 Post season wins, most all time. In fact, he has more wins in the post-season than the Royals, D-Backs, Mariners, Padres, Rays, Rockies, Brewers, Rangers and Expos/Nationals have as teams. Pitched in 8 world series. Real mediocre pitcher. -Jitpal
