Allstar Snub/bring life back to AS weekend

Post#1 » by Dalakerbox » Fri Feb 4, 2011 8:13 pm

Am I the only one that really thinks Odom should have made it over Pau this year? I mean don't get me wrong Pau had an amazing start to the season, but so did Odom and he is still going strong.

I have found myself disappointed in the Allstar selections the last 3 years or so, and the game itself is starting to loose that "something special" feeling I used to get. I don't know but I think the whole weekend needs to be revamped and rejuvenated.

There also needs to be a steady format in picking these Allstars and possibly do something for the players that don't make it. I'm all for an Allstar game and snub game all in the same weekend.

if u watched inside the nba on TNT, u wouldve heard charles barkley and c-webb constantly say lamar odom deserved all star consideration over gasol and saying he has been the 2nd best laker all season. so ur not the only one that thinks that.

it would be cool if the snubbed all stars could go 1 on 1 with each other and winner would be selected as another wild card or something hehe

i think odom deserves to be the replacement for yao over guys like love and aldridge, but i'm a big LO homer. did he deserve it over pau? i don't think i'd go that far, especially if you consider pau a center on an all-star team that needs to fill that void. as much as pau's play has regressed over the past month or so, he's still putting 18/10.

Odom deserved it over Paul.

But not over Zach Randolph or Aldridge.

found this on the GB

Lakers coach Phil Jackson said Lamar Odom would offer the West All-Star team the most versatility in being able to do different things and guard different players — making him the "most advantageous player" to be chosen. But Jackson also said he wouldn't mind Odom, who played over the summer with USA Basketball, getting rest over All-Star Weekend.

What about Pau Gasol?

"He'll do well in that forum," Jackson said, setting up his punchline: "He won't play that hard anyway."

Love added to West All-Star roster as replacement for Yao

NEW YORK (AP)—Kevin Love(notes) will be going to the NBA All-Star game.

The NBA’s leading rebounder was added to the Western Conference roster on Friday night by Commissioner David Stern as the injury replacement for Houston center Yao Ming(notes).

Love was arguably the biggest snub when reserves were announced Thursday night. He entered play Friday averaging 21.4 points and 15.5 rebounds, and shooting 43.9 percent from 3-point range. He has 34 straight double-doubles, but was undoubtedly hurt by his Minnesota Timberwolves’ 11-37 record when West coaches voted.

West coach Gregg Popovich will determine who will start the Feb. 20 game for Yao, who is out for the season with a stress fracture in his left ankle.

Kevin Love definitely deserves to play in the all-star game but I think Lamar Odom deserved it a tad more since hes playing on a team with a winning record... based on stats alone though Love definitely gets the nod in my opinion.

I'd go as far to say that LO has been our BEST player this year, Pau was dominant early and has tapered off, Kobe took a few months to get going - Lamar has been solid all season

Love making it was a travesty, just because a guy is averaging 15 board doesn't mean he's an All Star.
