good jack vs bad jack - article from bonnell

What's the difference between that Jackson and the guy who shot 25 percent for a week or committed nine turnovers in a game?

"He didn't hold the ball at all,'' Silas said.

"He knows what I feel, that he's really important to our club. (But) he can't just hold the ball all the time and then the clock is running down and he jacks up a shot under pressure.

"When he's moving, shooting open shots and penetrating to the hoop, he's almost unstoppable.''

i know this was something LB talked about as well, but it seems silas is really talking to jax about trying to not hold the ball as much. we've all seen how he can hold the ball for 5+ seconds at a time allowing the defense to rest and get set. its usually a losing situation. jax needs to watch durant. durant is one of the best i have ever seen at being about to create his own shots w/out holding the ball too long or slowing down the offense. as soon as durant gets the ball he either passes, shoots or drives. i want to see more of that type of behavior from jax. good things will follow.

I read this this morning and was struck by the Silas quote as well. Hope he's coming down hard on him for this. Everyone here seems to realize that it's one of his glaring weaknesses.

Hold, hold, hold, OK my man is now set in his defensive stance...hold, hold, hold, OK now everyone else is either guarded or motionless in anticipation of my bad jumper. hold, hold, hold - OK - time for Jack to win the game by shooting over the outstretched arms of the defender that is now glued to me.

OK - time for Jack to win the game by shooting over the outstretched arms of 2-3 defenders that is now glued to me.

Fixed.

As long as we remember that there is a Good Jack who scores relatively efficiently and picks up fouls and gets the occassional ten assists in a game, it is good to acknowledge that bad jack is really a subpar player.

jax was pretty damn amazing against the pistons. did that performance get a little bit overlooked from us?

No. But you have to point out the good when it happens and it's relation to the bad, otherwise there will be little progress made. Not that we really control anything, but you know what I mean.

Sorry if I never make sense, I'm a philosophy major.

Maybe so, but teammate Matt Carroll says Jackson made the Pistons look so bad.

"It looked like the game was moving slower for him than for anybody else,'' Carroll described. "It was like there was no one guarding him - that easy.'

Found this on ROF...

Bill Simmons: Super Bowl Mailbag

Q: After drinking for a few hours at the Yardhouse before going to the Bobcats versus Clippers game and drinking the entire game my friends and I who were sitting close to the Bobcats bench decided it would be a good idea to start heckling Stephen Jackson, aka Krazee-Eyez Killa, at the end of the game. NOT a good idea. He pointed at us and said "I'm gonna f--- you guys up." For the rest of the game and the whole walk to our car I kept looking behind my back to see if he was following us. Even in the car I figured he might drive up next to us and I would end up on "1000 Ways to Die," the Stephen Jackson edition. Turns out you should NEVER EVER mess with Stephen Jackson.
