Dr. Buss speaks to Ron and LO

Post#1 » by Slava » Sat Feb 5, 2011 12:29 am

Amid trade rumors, Ron Artest had a conversation with Lakers owner Jerry Buss during the team's practice on Thursday.

Artest insisted on Wednesday that he had no desire to be traded, despite reports to the contrary.

"We always chill. Nothing special," he said of Buss, "We've had lunch before."

Artest wasn't the only player to spend time with Buss, Lamar Odom had a conversation with the owner as well.

"I respect his judgment," Artest said, declining to deliver details of their conversation. "He's a winning owner. If he had to come out and say something good or bad, either way you get to work."

I'm just not comfortable with LO leaving though, it just means placing a bet on Bynum staying healthy and that's not a good one.

LO will be pissed with all his reality show commitments in LA.

I dont see Buss giving Derek the heave ho....again.

Well no i take that back business is buisness but wouldnt he have a LONG sitdown with Derek first?

I would ok with Luke/Artest + something else for Melo tho :D

Maybe it was to ensure them they won't be getting traded. Weird that he would be talking to Lamar though seeing how he has been our most consistent player this year.

Um WE ARENT GETTING MELO. Why the hell would Denver want Artest and his contract? Luke has no value that the Nuggets would want and Fisher isn't going to be traded and neither is Odom. This whole Melo to LA is a pipe dream.

It doesn't mean he was telling Lamar he was considering a trade. Lamar's game used to suffer around the trade deadline...Buss might be nipping that in the bud.

Also it's our guard play that's the problem. Last night Kobe called it an ugly game and a bad shooting night...compare our bigs to our guards...awful.

It's interesting but I doubt it has anything to do with a trade... I don't think the owner would give that much of a head's-up at practice if something was in the works... Most times it seems like the players don't know until the last second unless they're asking for a trade. And LO wouldn't be asking for a trade...

If we heard that Kupchak pulled LO and Artest out of practice, then I'd be interested.

If anything this smells like a reassuring pep-talk.

Probably something like: "We aren't looking to trade you Ron... Chillax..." And "You got robbed of All-Stars, LO, but you still my homie."

As KB24Gold said we aren't getting Carmelo, guys aren't staying in reality. The second part to that reality is this.......even if you make that trade it's not like he'll pick up the offense in a day. Stay in the present people.

Now the fact that Dr.Buss came to practice should send a message not only to the team but to the league too. I keep trying to tell people the man don't f**k around. It's time to get serious.

We have some crazy people up in here, as evident by every November there will be at least 15 posters thinking this team will win 70-72 games. Then once they hear some no name radio station suggest a Melo to LA they will just run with it thinking we will land him for Luke, Ron, Fish and Blake. Or they will think Steve Nash is on his way here or Dwight Howard is coming here soon.

Just because Mitch pulled a Kwame for Pau does not mean it will happen every single season, do people not realize Kwame was a huge expiring and we had Marc Gasol included. We have no big expiring this year nor do we have a stud like MG this time around.

C'mon Slav, it's not like guys can tell if what people post is really serious or not. We get these out of no where trade request all the time. I can take a joke with the best of them, it's just given the state that this team is in you just don't know what is serious or not.
