Khan is smart... get 'Melo out of the west so his timberwolves don't have to face him 4 times a year and one day, if they're ever any good, it will make a difference for their playoff chances ;)

Wow if they are willing to take Eddy in order to get AR that would be huge. THat means that Denver would be able to save Eddy's and AR's salaries and it's doubled because it would be the salary and the tax (denver is over the luxury tax). Since it is rumored that the main thing Denver wants is to save money this is a huge, huge development.

My list of untouchables after tonight is: Amar'e, Gallo, Fields and Mozgov.

What is this?

Is the untouchable list going to change every night? What if Mason comes in and drops 40? Does he make your list?

Nope. My criteria is superstar or up and coming all star. Those are the only ones that make the list.

Package Mike D'antoni with Curry and AR that should suffice

Well actually if you are going to move D'antoni you might as well keep AR.

I'd add Fields in there, too. Failton....you can die. I'm sick of this guy already. I don't care that he had a decent game tonight. He makes too many stupid decisions with the ball and is a big time chucker. Get me a guy who loves to pass the ball first, and look for his shot a distant second.

Denver would block Walsh's number once they mention Antoni.

I can't remember where/if I last posted this scenario but i'm curious, would people rather give up Gallo and hold onto Chandler and Fields, or give up the two and hold onto Gallo?

___

Moz is nice, but he certainly ain't untouchable.. don't think anyone's interested in him though, which is good cause I do think he has some potential...

Nothing's changed in my view, other than Amare and Felton anyone is on the table... And tbh I love Felton but i'd trade him for Billups.. I don't see either as long term solutions, I suppose Felton could be, but i'd probably think about taking Billups - not that they'd offer...

Can't see it as a bad thing that the rumors have died down so much... it either means Donnie is doing work and keeping things quiet, or that Denver isn't finding any offers - both of which are good for us....Feb. always goes by real quick, before you know it all star weekend will be around the corner and Denver will have their backs against the wall if nothing has happened...

Perhaps Denver-NY have come to some sort of an agreement and Denver's just riding it out till the week of the 13th.. I guess at this point that seems like the logical time for them to do something.. I don't see anything happening this coming week...and obviously the week after that's the 20th, and I really don't see them going that to the wire unless they're keeping him... The way some guys on our team are playing, and the way things are very quiet on the melo front, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of agreed upon proposal....then again, doesn't seem probable cause I'd imagine there is at least another team that's going to be involved, and that's too many parts for stuff not to be leaked..but ya never know.

this was posted on Bulls board:

N.Y. or bust for ‘Melo?

Several sources told Yahoo! Sports that Carmelo Anthony’s agent, Leon Rose, has recently begun informing teams that the All-Star forward is interested in signing a contract extension with only the New York Knicks. The stance has weakened the Denver Nuggets’ leverage in trying to deal Anthony, not only to other teams, but also the Knicks.

The sources said the Knicks don’t feel pressed to present a substantial trade offer to the Nuggets because they think they can also sign Anthony after the season if he opts out of his contract, as expected.

“If you’re New York, you just sit and wait until the offseason,” one general manager said. “That’s where it’s likely to go. Why give up assets to get him now when you can wait and get him next season?”

Said another source: “If ’Melo is telling the world he wants to go [to New York], why fight so hard to get him? [Knicks president] Donnie Walsh knows this.”

Though there’s less than three weeks before the Feb. 24 trade deadline, a deal for Anthony isn’t imminent. Sources said the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks still have interest in Anthony despite knowing he doesn’t plan to re-sign with them.

“Don’t blame ’Melo. He’s been up front about wanting to go to New York since the summer,” one source close to the talks said. “They better trade him to New York or end up with nothing.”

If that is the case then they can have Chandler who we wouldn't be able to sign if a july melo deal goes down and 2 first round picks (one a 2014,and the other from Minny for AR<<<<we'll regret this one day and minny can absorb Curry)

Get a backup PG, another big and a traditional shooting guard in the off season and let's roll.

Felton (for 1 more year until CP3)/back up PG
SG (jason richardson, he's a F/A maybe he chases a ring or maybe there is a MLE)/Fields
Melo/gallinari/fields
Stat/Gallinari/williams
Moz/ another center through F/A or the draft

Or heck Draft Jujuan Johnson and get even more lethal.

If we roll with the moustache and he starts STAT at the 5 we start:

PG Felton
SG Richardson
SF Melo
PF Gallinari
C Stat
6th man Fields

Or we miss the playoffs and the moustache gets canned and we hire Kelvin Sampson and we go"

PG Felton
SG Richardson
SF Melo
PF Stat
C MOz

6ht man Gallinari and fields next off the bench.

We'd match up great with Miami.

Anybody else catch the part in the CBS article about Denver's "trump card?" It says Denver is hoping the new CBA will allow them to slap a "franchise tag" on Carmelo, making him stay.

i believe it was larry coon that said, the franchise tag wouldn't affect carmelo because he's going to be a free agent before the new CBA. it would've only affected carmelo if he had another year on his contract.

Basically, carmelo will still be under the old CBA rules until he signs a new contract.

Makes perfect sense. So much for that. Trump card, you're fired!

Curry, AR to MIN in 3 way gets Denver under the luxury tax saving them 14 mil plus they would get around 3 mil being under the tax after the season from the league. Add to that around 5 mil in what is left of Melo 2010/11 salary.
Combine savings in a deal 22 mil!!!

Simple trade:

With Harrington:

NY 2011 pick, MIN pick (UTA or MEM) going to DEN in both deal of course.

To easy trade to make :)

Knicks can not trade their 2011 pick because they did not have a 1st round pick in 2010 and rules state you can not go 2 years in a row without a 1st round pick. Nice try though.

False! The rule does not look at past draft picks traded. It only looks forward. If we cannot trade our 2011 pick it is only because we have already traded our 2012. I can't keep it straight which future picks we've already traded, but as has been explained on this board a gajillion times: we can very easily trade one future first round pick.
