At the risk of sounding like a complete idiot, I think it's interesting to think about, at least as a crazy mind experiment kind of way. Kaman and Diogu could probably play the 4, and DJ the 5. I think that we could all agree that he has the skills to play the 3.
Would seem like there would be match-up nightmares left and right for the opposing team (perhaps some for us). I don't think that there are that many SF's who BG would have a legitimate problem defending. On offense, the opposing SF would be crushed, and we could have EJ and Kaman spread the floor. On defense, the other team would go against a taller team, and we would be a better rebounding team.
Biggest problem might be reserves...
Any thoughts?
Has anyone ever thought of playing Blake at SF?

I like it. BG can post up any SF in the league, but he needs to work on his outside jump shot in order to be effective at spacing the floor. Otherwise we'll have three big dudes crowding the paint the whole time.

Griffin does (or at least did) have one of the best ratings in the league for isolation defense. He does have the speed/quickness, but has to improve his shooting like mattfish said. His shot is coming along, but it's not good enough for a perimeter player. One downside to player him outside is that you are limiting one of his best qualities, and that is hit the boards. I don't think that playing him at SF would be the best move, but it could work in some line-ups. When Dunleavy was here, he wanted to play Blake with Camby and Kaman, and that would have been very interesting to see.

Too soon!
Let the guy master the PF position first. Too much to saddle him with learning the nuances of another position. He's still raw in many aspects.
He's got to work on
- post moves / foot work in the paint
- mid range J
- free throw shooting
- post defense

I think it's a bad idea. You want your players playing their natural position. Blake's a PF who will beast inside and can get rebounds. Putting him at the 3 will move him away from the basket. Also, he'll have to put more energy on D if he played the 3.

I don't think so. He is much better playing inside than outside. He hasn't even developed a full NBA PF offensive arsenal yet (but imagine when he does!)
On defense, as a SF he'd constantly be drawn to the perimeter which also isn't playing to his strengths.

Some athletic PF's look like they could play SF. Like Tyrus Thomas. BG is much more bulky and strong. May as well ask Why Dwight isn't playing at PF: Because it's kind of overkill.
