Raps - it's been spelled out for Raptors multiple time throughout this thread.

The Raptors and Grizz just don't match up well in regards of assets they are willing to part with. In other words, the Grizz are at peace with keeping Mayo as opposed to moving him for pennies on the dollar. The Raptors are inclined to trade Davis/Derozan, nor should they be. Those are about the only two names on the roster that appeal to most Grizz fans. The two teams just aren't a good fit as trading partners at this time.

I see many people keep repeating this argument, but it's specious.

The value of players, particularly young prospects, changes over time. When Thabeet's $5.1 mil option was picked up before the season began, MEM probably hoped he would improve, and his trade value would increase. We can't assume that his value now is identical to when the decision was made.

Barbosa + Ed Davis for Mayo + Thabeet?

Don't know if many Raps fans would approve of that though...

I like Shannon Brown, but I wouldn't give up a key member of the Grizzlies to get him.

As for the Barbosa/Davis for Mayo/Thabeet trade, personally I would take that even though it doesn't really address any imediate needs for Memphis. I've seen enough of Ed Davis to believe he is going to be a top defensive power forward, somewhat in the mold of a slightly smaller Marcus Camby. The guy is very smart for a rookie, plays exceptionally sound, and I believe he has a high ceiling.

Barbosa isn't quite what I had in mind for a depth player, but I think he could help some with his quickness and outside shot. He also has a good contract, essentially having a players option. If he takes it he will be an expiring contract next year. If he thinks he wants to be on another team, the Grizzlies save $8mil.

So getting what I think is a blue chip stock in Davis for Mayo, whose absence hasn't hurt the team, and a player in Thabeet, who I still view as a project that will take at least a couple more years to improve, if at all, is a deal I go with.

I knew that was coming. Lol. What about Blesoe/Butler/Smith for Mayo/Thabeet? Memphis immediately saves 8 million this season with this trade and 17 million for next season. Bledsoe is a good young back up point guard, though I'm not sure ur still looking for a pg since u signed Jason Williams, but Bledsoe is good for the long term. Butler could produce as a shooting guard for Memphis as well. He's buried on the depth chart for the Clipps.

Bargnani + Barbosa + Reggie Evans

for

Randolph + Mayo (Toronto TPE) + Thabeet (Toronto TPE)

We'll buy out Randolph which give you guys the chance to resign him... the big rotation would be set for the short and long term... you get Barbosa to replace Mayo's role as the 6th man providing scoring.

I would like to do that because of Bledsoe, but overall no. Butler seems alright, good shooter. But i'm not really a big fan of either him or Smith. Personally, I wouldn't do it.

Interesting. I wouldn't do it because Mayo has more potential then Barbosa, and he's younger. Bargani is younger then Randolph but he doesn't give you the rebounding that Randolph does. And Thabeet, well he could turn into a very good defensive player in the future.

Bucks fan here - what do you think about Carlos Delfino, Chris Douglas-Roberts and a 2011 unprotected first for Mayo/2011 second?

Delfino's contract for next season is NG'd so he's essentially an expiring. CDR is a RFA so you can keep him or view him as another expiring and you're likely getting a Top 10 lotto pick since the Bucks suck.

Would the Grizzlies do this?
Nothing will not break me.

No. They have Sam Young starting, with Tony Allen as backup, along with rookie Xavier Henry in the wings. Trading for both Delfino and Douglas-Roberts makes zero sense. It simply creates a huge imbalance.

How about Shannon Brown,Derrick Caracter, and two 2nd round draft picks for OJ Mayo. Then in a seperate trade Lakers trade their TPE for Thabeet. Lakers get Mayo who would benefit from a change of scenery as would Thabeet. Meanwhile you save money to resign Randolph and Gasol.

No. The Grizzlies have given the Lakers enough championships.

I can see the nets making a trade on draft day. Say the Nets had the Number three pick and the Grizz had the number 9 pick. Obviously this is all hypothetical, but would you trade Mayo and your 1st round pick for D. James and the nets 1st round pick
